Question about Dell XPS M1210 Notebook

1 Answer

I've had my Dell xps m1210 for almost three years now. But it's not working properly anymore. It started with my computer freezing so I restarted it and I notice my windows was starting weird with 0's across the black screen. Then when I logged on I notice my graphics card wasn't there or working. So I repaired windows and it fixed the problem. But then it happened twice again. So I tried reinstalling my graphics card and I got a blue screen telling me to call vendor. So I refornatted without repairing windows and deleted the old partitions. But the problem stayed and it wouldn't let me install my graphics card or my wireless adapter driver. I want to try here to get some answers before I call dell. Thanks.

It sounds like you have a motherboard failing, but before you thing about replacing it or call Dell, run a deep virus scan to make sure you don't have a serious virus infection. Run McAfee, Norton Anti-virus or Kaspersky Anti-virus scan.

To determine if your hard drive is bad or good, run the Dell diagnostics.
Here is a link for the owner's manual of your model:

I have a Dell XPS M1210 laptop for which I have just purchased a new 9-cell compatible battery. It worked great for a couple of hours, but now shuts off immediately when unplugged from the AC power supply....

You might want to try what I did when I had a completely discharged battery for my Dell Laptop. I attached the battery to the computer, make sure the computer is off and plug in the charger for a full twenty four hours (undisturbed). And this really worked. I had no problems with the battery. Good luck.

XPS 1530 won't start up property

Hi there.
While you are in safe mode perform a system restore and take the computer back at least 2 - 7 days before the problems started.
Don't worry about loosing any data as system restore does not delete files.
Please post back if you need anymore help.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Laptop hangs during video-call

Go to Dell support website and check for latest video, & audio drivers and BIOS.
https://support.dell.com/support/supportrequests/create.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
Check back quarterly as Dell is quite good about rolling out updates on a regular basis.

Xps m1210 won't start

Before getting to that point are you sure your battery and power adapter are functioning properly? You may want to try each seperately and see if you get a response.

How do I reinstall my videocam on my xps m1210

Beside reinstalling the camera drivers, also reinstall Direct X, if you don't have it go to:

Gaming issues

I would make sure you have the latest bios, and video drivers to start. Make sure you have all latest updates for windows. Make sure your hard drive is defragmented. Also make sure your computer is clean and that it is ventilating/cooling properly. If that fails I would just format and reinstall windows.
Hope that helps,
Lee
