Natively the OS of the TI84 does not use tabs: It only uses menus and submenus. These tabs come from the game or application you were running before. Terminate the application and clear the RAM because third party applications have a tendency to linger in memory.
Hope it helps.

Have you run the Inequalz application? It too uses Tabs.
The inequalz application takes over the graphing capabilities from the native OS. To recover the usual graphing environment you must unload Inequalz from memory.

    1. Press [Apps]

    2. If you see Inequalz in the list of Apps, press the number that corresponds to it and press [ENTER]

    3. If you do not see Inequalz in the list uses down Arrow to point to it and press [ENTER]

    4. In the screen "Inequalz Running" press [2:Quit Inequal]

    5. The application will be unloaded from memory. It is still in the calculator and can be executed when or if needed.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

How do i use the "shades" or "Po-I-Trace" menus on the TI-84?

Press APPS. Scroll up or down to reach Inequalz and press ENTER. The inequalz application will know control function graphing. Open the Y= editor to enter at least two inequalities . Use the tabs at the bottom to type in the relational operators. You will have to press [ALPHA] followed by [F1], or [F2], etc

Press the GRAPH function key (F5) to draw the graphs. You get the two regions superposed (original shading).

Press [ALPHA][F1 or F2] to activate the [SHADES] tab. This open up the following screen.

On this screen you can choose the type of shading 1: Intersection of the two regions ( the part of the plane that satisfies both inequalities, 2 the union of the two regions or 3 the original shading (as compared to choice 2). Selecting option 1:intersection gives you the following screen.

If you press the [ALPHA][F5] keys you have the HELP ? screen below.

If you press the [ALPHA] [F3] keys you get a Point of Interest (You should consult the manual for the Inequalz application for more details.
By pressing the TRACE button (not ALPHA F4) and the left or right arrows you you can follow the graph of one of the functions. You jump to the other functions by pressing the Up or Down arrows.

To get the manual for Inequalz go to the and download it.

For my Ti-84 plus edition when I type in the graph equations there is an equals sign, a greater than sign, a less than sign, and some other signs at the bottom of the screen. How do I get rid of this?

You, or someone else played with INEQALZ (inequalty graphing) applications. The problem is thet it remains in memory and takes over the graphing duties from the native OS. If you do not want Inequalz to manage the graphing, just kick it out of memory.
Press [APPS¨] key.
Use arrows to scroll through the list of APPS.
Locate INEQALZ and highlight it.
Press [ENTER]
In the new screen INEQALZ RUNNING, press the number that corresponds to the option Uninstall.
