SOURCE: self clean light blinks when you turn oven on (oven does not work)

I had this same problem with mine (still posted under unsolved) This is the simpler model with the old turn style knob and the lever you slide over to lock the door for cleaning What I think (keep in mind I know little about ovens, more about cars) is that the switch that tells the oven the door is latched is staying engaged, and this is part of the lever mechanism. I cleaned and lubed this mechanism (obviously I would guess you want to use a food safe lubricant) and then moved the lever several times with the oven on so I could see if it turned on. After a few tries the cleaning light went off and the oven light came on. No, its not really a technical answer, all indications to me where that the problem was in the switch which is part of the latch mechanism. Good luck

SOURCE: Self cleaning MAytag Gemini GAS oven

A wonderful feature is that the ovens self-clean with the press of a few buttons. Only one oven can be programmed to self-clean at a time. Remove the oven racks. Turn off the oven light and close the door. Press the "Clean" button and then press "Auto Set" to automatically clean the oven for 3 hours. Press the "Auto Set" pad again to set the oven for a 4-hour clean cycle, or press the button one more time for a 2-hour cleaning. The oven locks when in cleaning mode. When the oven is finished cleaning, the word "Cleaned" will be displayed on the control panel, and the oven will remain locked until the oven has cooled, which takes about an hour. To cancel the self-clean cycle, just press the "Cancel" button. Simple!

SOURCE: How do I use the self-cleaning oven feature

An easier option for you would be to download a replacement manual. Go to managemyhome.com and register. This is a FREE service. Once registered, log in and go the "Home Manager" link at the top of the page. Look for the "Owner's Manual" link under the drop down menu and click on it. Enter your Brand Name and Model Number. Your Owner's Manual is listed in a downloadable .pdf format that you can save to your computer or print out for ready reference. I hope you find this information helpful. If you have further questions, please let me know.

How to use self-cleaning on 1996 frigidaire electric oven

Thank you for your post, Jewell!
From the information you have provided you would like a manual for your Frigidaire oven. I would be happy to research and see if that information is available. In order to research for any available manuals I would need your model number. You can locate the serial tag (which lists your model number) on the door frame of your oven or on the inside left hand wall. Once I have that information I would be able to better assist you. -Matt

I Have a Paul Bocuse 4040DB stove I am converting to lpg I need to re set the low heat settings after changing the jets , how do I do this?

Not everything can be performed by the family handyman.
This adjustment is best left to a qualified service tech. The last thing you want to do is make a mistake and burn somebody's face off.

MODEL NUMBER CPLEF398CCB. I tried to use the self clean and I received the f9 message. I am able to unlock door and you see the lock moving from lock to unlock. It unlocks every time i clear and restarts...

you either have a bad latch assy. or a bad computer board or a broken wire.this can be an expensive fix and the problem with self cleaning ovens is when you self clean them the temp. gets up to 1000 degrees and this damages the electronics in the machines, personally i would never use the self clean feature i clean mine by hand with easy off.people do this near the holidays and then the oven doesn't work parts have to be ordered and it could take up to 5 to 10 days or longer to get parts.don't ever self clean your oven when a holiday is coming up so this doesn't happen.if you can still use the oven just forget about the self clean if the error keeps you from cooking you'll have to find out what part is bad to fix it it sounds like your latch is working this code means the computer board thinks the door isn't locked if you want to change out the latch motor it's pretty easy, unplug the oven, pull it out and remove the back wall, the motor will be on the top right hand side looking at the unit from the back the part number is 316464301 this part is around 55 to 75 bucks depending where you get it now if it still does it the clock assy. is around 300 bucks part 316207600 so i would change out the latch assy. first if you need this repaired.hope this helps you out one more thing did you try unplugging the oven it could reset the computer board, leave it unplugged for 10 minutes and then plug it back in,don't try to self clean it,put it on bake and if the code doesn't come back great who cares about the self clean

Self cleaning oven help

There is nothing wrong with cleaning a self-cleaning oven. Now, I don't have experience with your speicific oven, but I do have experience with other self-cleaning ovens. The self-clean function simply heats the oven up really hot. The actual temperature varies but the oven will get hotter than the hottest temperature setting. What happens is that when it get that hot it actually burns up spilled food and crumbs. sometimes in mine I even see small flames. The oven usually requires you to lock it as well since the temperature will be so high. Eventually you have to clean out the burnt "ashes" which are basically the stuff you get on food if you burn it. So the answer to what happens if you clean the oven is that you get a clean oven, nothing else. It won't hurt the oven at all. As a matter of fact even if you use the self-cleaning feature you will eventually have to clean out the "burnt crumbs" and such by hand anyway. So self-cleaning oven are designed to be cleaned by hand as well. And you won't hurt it by doing so even if you did it every day.

Oven won't heat after self cleaning

There is a overload thermostat located on the rear of your oven that needs to be replaced.
Self cleaning operations are not recommended by this technician.
