A HDD password is something that has to be set by someone, it cannot be set by itself. If when you turn on your computer you see a little blue box in the middle it asking for a password that is asking for a BIOS password. There is a known issue with the Satellite A135 and you should contact Toshiba at 1-800-457-7777 or contact your local ASP, you can find your local ASP at support.toshiba.com This is a known issue and Toshiba should cover this even if you are out of warranty until 2010.

Forgotton hdd password on Toshiba satalite oro a210

you could try this,,,Others have been able to change the password in BIOS. Found this:

1. The HDD password cannot be removed using Security Assist.
2. Using SETUP BIOS (i.e. start machine; Hold Esc; Press F1), Tab to the HDD Password section which should be displayed as follows:
HDD Password
HDD = Built-in HDD
HDD Password Mode = USER Only
User Password = Registered
3. Tab to the "User Password" field and simply enter the old password and then a new one twice (once to verify) as one would do normally. If you don't want a password, just press "enter" twice

Hello i need the hdd password from laptop samsung n 135 i have ropen it en i can start him no more

The first thing you should do is check whetheryou really forget login password or not. When we install Windows, itautomatically creates an account "Administrator" and sets its password toblank. So if you have forget Your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you See Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, pressctrl+alt+del keys Twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type"Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. PressEnter and you will be able to log in Windows.

Or you can get into the Safe Mode to resetyour account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts". In Safe ModeWindows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.

Windows versions also provide another method to recoverforgotten Password by using "Recover Disk". If you created a Password RecoveryDisk in Past, you can use that disk to reset the password. To know more aboutIt, please visit http://www.windowspasswordrecovery.net

User password lockout

Hard disk password is set from the BIOS. It is usually set in conjunction with the Power On Password. This password is stored on the EEPROM chip and is very difficult to crack - no backdoor passwords. It is used to prevent unauthorized access to the laptop and the data on the hard disk. Removing the hard disk and inserting it into another computer will not allow access to data without the HDD password.

Replaced hdd on emachine w3615,light on mobo but it wont come on.

Hi ipackrat21, that little green led you see is telling you the motherboard has standby power. (Its supposed to be green & on).
Make sure the hdd jumper is set to, master without a slave). In a one hdd system.
When you replaced the hdd you also need to enter the bios menu.
In the bios you'll need to make some changes. First you should see the new hdd listed in the bios. (Normally it list the hdd by model). If your hdd is shown than go to the title "BOOT". You need to set the boot order. A normal boot order would list like so;
First boot device, Floppy disk drive".
Second boot device, "CR-ROM" drive.
Third boot device, "Your new hdd".
If your bios does not see your hdd you'll need to re-check the data cable from the board to the drive. (Make sure it is fully connected).
If the drive is an IDE/PATA make sure it has power. A 4-pin molex.

Still have trouble, post it here.
Mike
