Computer is usually set to default boot drive to DVD/CD rom, if it's the case then it will seek a the DVD/CD first before booting up on HD, now if your DVD/CD rom has disc on it, it will read the disc first, that explains the vibration when the disc is rotating making a noise. If you would like to set the first boot device to HD? you have to configure it through the CMOS set-up.

How to enter the BIOS or CMOS setup.
Solution:
Because of the wide variety of computer manufacturers and BIOS manufacturers over the evolution of computers, there have been numerous different ways to enter the BIOS or CMOS Setup. Below is a listing of the majority of these methods as well as other recommendations for entering the BIOS setup.
Notice: If you are unable to get into the BIOS or CMOS setup because of a password contact your system administrator or the one that sets up your PC.

New computers
Thankfully, computers that have been manufactured in the last few years will allow you to enter the CMOS by pressing one of the below five keys during the boot. Usually it's one of the first three.
•F1
•F2
•DEL
•ESC
•F10

Then you will see something like this, set your first boot device to Hard Disk.

When I put a cd or dvd into my disk drive I hear a strange buzzing noise coming from the drive as soon as the cd or dvd starts to play.Sometimes the buzzing comes and goes but will last at least thirty ...

The buzzing might be just a little bit of friction between the motor and its housing rubbing together, or it could be off-balanced and vibrating against the drive cage. It's more than likely nothing as long as the disk still reads, and as long as it does still read, there's no need to send it in for repairs, it's just a minor annoyance. However, if the disk does not read, and I made an inaccurate guess as to the problem, then I would send it into the manufacturer for repairs.

My avanti thermoelectric compact refrigerator periodically runs very loud which is not normal. If I hit it, it stops and runs quietly again. Any ideas? I have already cleaned the dust off thoroughly and...

The noise if from a sympathetic vibration of the unit which transforms to vibrate any loose joints, parts or fittings.
You will need to listen to the noise, use your hand to hold up the plastics or the joints in the bottom section of the unit or the frame work. It will require a lot of patience to find the source of noise. Pad it up after tapping for loose noise on the rear and insulate the noise heard till you finally get rid of any vibration noise..

I had the same problem, you can replace both the acc band and the band tensor, the vibration comes from a loose band.

Ilo DVDR05 Vibration and loud humming noise

i experienced that problem before.one cause is the cd itself.there cd's that are too thick so the motor has hard time rotating that makes vibrating sound.the other ,don't put something over your unit.the cover is touching the holder of the cd and makes a sound.just do the necessary things to be done like don't put something on top your unit.if not, then a manual analysis of the tech is the last option.

Loud humming noise coming from 360

The loud humming noise is usually the DVD drive. It is very fast but is very loud. If you have the NXE dashboard you can download games to you Xbox 360 to run them from the hard drive (you will still need to put in the disk for copy protection issues). The Xbox should make less noise then. Try to mount the Xbox 360 on a hard surface which is in contact with a soft floor to reduce the noise travelling through your home.
If it is making a loud noise while there is no disk in the drive then take the console to a Microsoft dealer whenever you can to have them take a look at it.

Dryer makes a loud buzzing noise then quits working.

Sounds like the motor's done. That thing is probably the start-run switch. Not worth trying to fix on an old motor. I've found dryer motors to be fairly generic, you should be able to find a replacement. I use Repairclinic.com when I can't get parts locally.

Faint noise on booting.

Try this remove side cover and boot computer listen for any extra noise fan etc. also by power supply
As I think you have a bad bearing in a fan
To temp fix it
remove paper cover over center of fan and put a small and I mean small drop of light machine oil on bearing then replace paper cover.
check if this stops the noise if it does you know which fan to replace.
If it is power supply fan and if you think yourself capable remove fan and do the same to it
