Hello,

First of all make sure that the USB port that you are using to connect it to your PC is a USB 2.0 port, and not USB 1.0.

Also if it came with an external power, connect it to the external power before putting on your PC.

This is because the voltage supplied by USB 1.0 is lower than that of USB 2.0 and therefore might not be enough to power up your USB Drive.

After making sure about this, power up your system, and plug the flash drive, then Right-Click on my computer icon, select manage, then go to Disk Management Option.

On the Disk management option Page you should see ALL the drives installed on your system, including the hidden ones, so what you will just do is, try and locate the one representing your flash drive, and right click on it. then select "Change Drive letter and Paths", and give the drive any new, unique letter (i.e alphabet) different from the ones already on your system, and click on OK.

This should make your Flash Drive to be detected automatically.

You can also try it out on a friend's system.

Kindly keep me posted about the problem and let me know how it goes.

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck!

I have a 8gb flashdrive for a xobox 360 and i cannot access it no matter waht i try and for some reason it doesn't even light up what do i do?

Are you trying to use it as a memory card? TO do this you need to format it. If the light's not coming on it could be that the USB port is broken.

Have photos and software on my i.t.flashdrive but now my laptop wont even find the flashdrive! is there any software i need to download?

No soft needed, it's a simple USB stick , the default driver is used for all. Try the stick in another pc, if it's the same then the memory chip inside it has failed and all the data on it is lost for good - junk it.

SanDisk 8GB lights up but wont register

This one is just a hunch. The drive might be bad but this is worth a try. Its possible the drive letter somehow changed on the flashdrive. Plug in the drive, RIGHT click on "My Computer" and select "Manage" from the drop down menu. Now select "Disk Management" from the list. If you see your flash drive on the list, right click on it and select "Change drive letter and paths", then click on "change", now assign it a new letter like "F" for example. Click ok, ok, ok. If it showed up the the list and it's still not registering, unplug it and plug it back in. Hope that helps.

Have you reset it? Grab a needle or a end of a ear-ring and put it in the hole located right of the ear phone jack, once you hear a button being pressed down, hold for 5 seconds and then it should turn on. As for recongnization, try different USB ports on your computer.
