Hi Odin247,

Press and hold the eject button for more than 10 seconds. Sony included a trick in the program to force eject. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: jammed disk in PS3

You will have to break down the unit, take the cover off the BRD (blue ray drive) and physically remove the disc. It's probably the stepper motor on the slide assembly jammed. Good luck.

You might want to start with a System Restore and a firmware update. Also a controller reset might be in order too.

How to jailbreak your ps3 (backup and play homebrew games)

How to jailbreak PS3(PlayStation 3)? chips available at www.ndsireland.webs.com

Follow the complete step by step guide posted below to jailbreak your PlayStation 3 to enable you to create backups of original discs.
Pre-requisites are as follows:
* Any (FAT or SLIM) PlayStation 3 Console running firmware 3.41 or above.
* PS Jailbreak USB Modchip.
* An external USB drive formatted to FAT32 with the "Backup Manager" file on it which you can download from here.
* Original disc of any PS3 game which you want to backup.
Step 1: Power off your console and make sure that there isn't any disc in the Blu-ray drive.
For the SLIM Model: Remove the power chord before plugging in the USB.
For the FAT model: Turn off the power switch found at the backside of the console.

Step 2: Now insert the USB based PS Jailbreak Modchip to any USB port of your choice on the console. Once the USB is in place, Power ON the console and immediately press the "Eject" button. There should now be two LEDs turned-on on the USB as the console is loading.
If the LED light on the USB turns green, you are good to go as the PS Jailbreak has been successfully loaded.
If the LED turns red, then it means that the PS Jailbreak Modchip didn't load successfully. This usually happens when the Power and Eject button sequence wasn't performed properly. Start from Step 1 again if you end up having the red light.
Step 3: Once the console has finished booting up with the PS Jailbreak Modchip, plug-in the external USB storage device which has the "Backup Manager" setup to the console's USB port.
Step 4: Now navigate to the "Game Menu" and select the option "Install Package Files" and then select "manager.pkg" file. This will basically install the "Backup Manager" application that you download earlier to your hard drive.
Step 5: When the "manager.pkg" file is done loading, scroll all the way down in the "Game Menu" and there you should see a new application called "Backup Manager", run it.
Step 6: Now we're in the Backup Manager app. Insert the game in the console's optical drive which you want to backup. Press "O" and you will be asked where to make the backup, on the internal HDD or the external storage source connected via USB. This process is further elaborated by the following screenshots.
Step 7: In order to play a game via the backup you just made, insert any original game disc into your console (To emulate the loading process), run "Backup Manager" in the "Game Menu". Press "X" to play the selected backup game.
Step 8: Now you will be taken back to the main menu. In the "Game Menu" you will see the game which you have backed up. Now you can select the game, and run it without having the disc in the console's drive.
Oh and you must make sure that the PS Jailbreak USB Modchip is connected to your console at all the times when you are playing the games via backups.

How can u fix error 80010516?

To solve this error :

Never eject disc while game is in use.
Delete all your messages.
If playing a game on disc, clean the disc off and ensure disc is inserted properly.
Upgrade your firmware to the latest version.
Under Game settings, set PS/PS2 Upscaler to Off.
Restart your Playstation 3 and try again.
If all else fails, the disc might be defective.

Unit freezes in play, red ring of death, will not eject disk

Hi,

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way:

1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

From the above select option "Rebuild Database". After PS3 has executed this DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu.

Thank you !!

It won't wont eject or play cd's

Hi.

Try pressin repeatedly the eject button on the on dash player while at the same time you start the stereo.

If that does not work you can try disconnecting the car battery to reset the unit, and then attempt again the procedure above.

Remember that you may be asked stereo code after disconnecting battery, have it ready.

If still no luck, then the unit must be removed from the dash to be taken apart, so to remove the stuck disk.

Regards.

PS: Here the procedure above illustrated in detail. The procedure is described for home DVD players, but it is the same on any optical unit. Naturally , since the unit is an in-car system, you do not have power cord, but you will need to disconnect battery to reset the system: player system won't eject disk.

Not accepting a disk, acts like there is another disk in there

Hold the "Eject" button for ten seconds and try it. Oh and if you have a 40 gb model (2 USB ports) and the Eject button dosent work then try this, Turn off the back of the PS3 (Main power switch) and then hold the eject button (while the main power is off) keep your finger pressed on the eject button flick on the main power switch and it should sound like some HUGE fan don't get scared, wait until the fan stops turn off your ps3, start it up and insert the disk and IT SHOULD WORK
