hold shift and press the 2 key on the row above the alphabet keys. the extra symbols are there for if you were to set the computer's OS to a different language keyboard

you have the wrong keyboard setting if , when you press the @ sign you are getting a " instead

please say what version of windows you have

Go to the control panel, change to large icons, click religion and language. Click the Keyboard and Languages then change it there.

The green key used by enabled function key......

maybe is for another language. click alt + shift to switch between languages. to acces the second symbol on a key press shift + the key.

try changing thje language back to English in windows and the keyboard to US english ( Control panel)

Press the Symbol key on the keyboard. It works just like the Num LK key.

I am unable to answer your problem that why you are not getting the required symbol if it is there (Hope that you are pressing the no. 3 with Shift key pressed).
But if you need a Pound sign you can get it by pressing 0163 key from the right side numeric keypad while pressing the alt key (i.e. alt+0163).
Remember that you cannot use the upper number key for this purpose.
