How to reset settings

A persistent operating system error on your Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop requires more than just a system restore as there is a problem with a driver that a system restore cannot correct.

A full factory reset of the laptop wipes the hard drive clear of all data including existing driver settings and programs and installs the original operating system back to the hard drive.

Once cleared, previous computer files and programs are non-recoverable.

Press "Power" on the Inspiron 1525, and continuously press "F8" on the keyboard when the Dell logo appears on the laptop's screen.

Press the down arrow to highlight "Repair Your Computer," and press "Enter" to select the highlighted onscreen option.

Click your preferred keyboard layout, and click "Next" to continue with the laptop's restoration process.

Type "administrator" in the username field, click "OK" and click "Dell Factory Tools."

Click "Dell Factory Image Restore," and click "Next." Click the checkbox next to the hard drive reformat confirmation, and click "Next."

Click "Finish" to reboot the OS after the restore process finishes, which can take up to 10 minutes.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Suggest you try and do a system restore. This will restore your pc back to a state that it was on a previous date.

If you are on XP, go to Start>Run>Type in msconfig and then his System Restore, it will start the wizard

If on Vista or Windows 7, go to start and type in system restore in the search box and then click on it when found

Go through this wizard, select a date before you installed Office 2007. Note that not every date is available to you so you need to choose the most relevant.

Once the wizard has finished, it will restart your pc and it should be back to the way it was on this date

Hope that helps, pls rate the solution

How do i get my presario 2800 to factory state

From what you say I presume you wish to put it back to when you bought it. If so, boot your computer and go into the Bios, select default settings.
Re boot your computer with your system disc in the DVD drive and when the menu asks whether you want to install a fres system and format, select that.
When your new system is installed, go to the manufacturers web site and down load the drivers for your computer then re boot it.
Install Office and any other periferal software that was supplied with the computer and there you have a system installed bare PC.

How to use System Restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); Note To perform System Restore, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If this is your personal computer, you are likely already logged on with an administrator account. If this is a computer that is part of a network at work, you might have to ask the system administrator for help. To verify that you are logged on to Windows with a user account that is a computer administrator, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin (http://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin) To use System Restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to Windows as Administrator.
  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
  3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
  4. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next.

Note A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
  5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.
  6. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page is displayed.
  7. Click OK.
If you successfully restored your computer to a previous state, and the computer is performing as it should be, you are finished.

If the restore process completed successfully but the computer is still not performing as you want, go to the "How to undo a system restoration after you perform a System Restore" section. If you received an error message and the restore process did not finish, or if you cannot run System Restore, go to the "Next Steps" section.

The red off button on the desktop will not turn on when pushed.

You can usually use the keys on your keyboard to get to these kinds of options. They are:
1. Ctrl +Esc together
2. or you can push all 3 of these keys at once: Ctrl +Alt + Delete

However, that does not fix the problem. To do that, I would start with updating Windows by going to Programs > Windows Update and then restart your computer after all updates have finished installing.

You might need to update Java, just go to www.sun.com

You might need to update your Internet Explorer.

Beyond that, you may have a virus, so scan your computer with a virus scanner.
If none of this works, you might need to reinstall or repair Windows (use your Windows disk and backup all files that you want to keep first) or go back to a previous Restore Point saved in Windows.

To Restore to a previous state of Windows just go to:

Control Panel> System> and then click on Advanced System Settings

In the box that pops up (System Properties) click on the System Protection tab. You will see any previous restore points with the dates. This might help to go to a time when your computer was working well.

Do not "Create a restore point" because it will create it with the way your system is now and you wont ever want to restore to a point where it is messed up like it is now.

Hopefully one of these will get you going.

I want to do a system recovery on a EL1200 emachines? Could someone tell me how to do this?

Hi,

I work with these machines every day, this model was designed after Acer bought out Gateway(who owned Emachines).

If you provide me an email address I will send a copy of the recovery disk creation instruction that we give to all our customers to you. Then once you have made the disks you can simply put disk one of the factory restore set in the DVD drive, Power down and restart and it will boot from the restore disk and from that point on you just have to confirm and agree with the warnings from the restore program to allow it to wipe the drive and start fresh.

Hope this Helps,

Chris
