To check or change the settings on the router, you will need to access the router set up.
Do you have any computer connected to the router with the cable ?
If not then you will need to connect 1 computer to the router .
On this computer you can access the router set up and if you want to change the settings , you can.

I bought a Crystal View Xt NetBook it will not hook up to wifi

To connect your computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used to configure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Someone is logging into my computera and is using my internet connection for their wireless I want to change my web key address so that cannot occur again please tell me how

This is very simple. Go to http://192.168.0.1 and login using "admin" for the username and "motorola" for the password (both without quotation marks). From there you'll see a column of buttons on the left-- click on "wireless". In that new page you'll see a row above the main content with 4 tabs-- click "security". Now you'll see an area that says "security mode". I would recommend using WPA because it is the most secure. You'll choose what you want the password to be in the field that says "Passphrase", and then press "Apply". You'll notice you aren't connected to the internet anymore (if using wifi) because you'll need to reconnect and put the new password in. That should do it, but let me know if you have anymore questions!

Wifi doesn't work or cant detect

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

How do i connect to a wireless network?

Hi,

If you have a laptop, you can see a list of available wireless networks, and then connect to one of those networks, no matter where you are. The wireless networks appear only if your computer has a wireless network adapter and driver installed and the adapter is enabled.

To view and connect to available wireless networks

  1. Open Connect to a Network by clicking the network icon (eff2d36c-9e0d-4d1a-9859-3af14fa4ccfc.jpg or da12251d-1e9a-4032-afae-009876c6c5a3.jpg) in the notification area.

  2. In the list of available wireless networks, click a network, and then click Connect.

Some networks require a network security key or passphrase. To connect to one of those networks, ask your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for the security key or passphrase.

Whenever possible, you should connect to security-enabled wireless networks. If you do connect to a network that's not secure, be aware that someone with the right tools can see everything that you do, including the websites you visit, the documents you work on, and the user names and passwords that you use

Sylvania netbook: need data for "Wireless Network Properties": credentials?? activation key? Where do I find that?

It is the wireless router that needs to be configured to set an SSID, an encryption-level (use 'WPA') and a password/passphrase.

Configure the router, and then use those settings to configure the wireless adapter on your netbook.

New D-Link put in place. It asked for set up from a

Hi

when you iniitally set up the router you would have had a password key this is the WEP (Wirelss encryption protocol), this is the Key your notebook is referring to, if it is hardwired i.e. you have wired connection then it will not ask for this as it then becomes a different protocol

How do I copy the security key?

the solution to this one is you need to reconfigure the router. you need to disable the security settings for your router. (WEP or WPA) then try to put in a new SSID and new security key. that's the only way that you can get a new security/passphrase key for your network. for further assistance you need to contact the router manufacturer for router configuration.

i hope this helps.

Passphrase for home network with a d-link di524 wireless router

well the default username is admin and the default password is nothing (blank). that is to get into your router settings. if that don't work then just reset the router by the reset button on the back of the router, this will reset all the settings to default and then you can use the default username and password. or if you just want the manual then here you go - ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/di524/Manual/DI-524_manual_06292005.zip
