1 Answer

Dryer problem The machine will start and run for maybe five minutes and then shut off. After 20 minutes it will start again and run for 5 minutes and shut off. Where to look? What to check? Already check venting ( no obstructions ), thermostats ( all check good ), motor leads ( check good - under no load ) What now ?

Re: dryer problem

What you're describing sounds like the "wrinkle free" function of the timer. If it's happening at the end of a dry cycle, this is perfectly normal. If it's happening at the start of a dry cycle, then the timer is broken and will need replaced.

Runs for 4-5 minutes shuts off. Beat on door and it runs for 4-5 minutes and then won't run for about 20 minutes. Is it the door switch?

Try taking the door switch out and tieing the wires toghther with a wire nut.UNPLUG DRYER FIRST.

If dryer runs ok then its the door switch. If not then its possible the motor is heating up,you can clean the lint and dust off the motor with a vacum cleaner by taking off the rear panel or turning machine on its side.

Dryer runs then stops after short periods (5-10 mins)

THere maybe a thermal limit sensor gone bad. Keeps the dryer from over-heating. Located behind rear panel on most and mounted on the heat tube. Verify with volt/ohm meter if possible
