Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Change boot cd rom bios300

Your IBM 300 series desktop computer is normally set to boot its operating system directly from the installed hard disk drive.
There are some cases where you may want to boot from a different device, such as loading from the floppy drive to install a new operating system.
In order to change the boot order on the IBM computer you need to access the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) menu.

Close any applications that are still running.
Turn off the IBM 300PI computer and then turn it back on again.
Tap the "F1" key when the "Configuration/Setup Utility" prompt appears at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the down arrow key four times to highlight the "Start Options" entry.

Press the Enter key.
Highlight the "Startup Sequence" entry and then press Enter again.

Scroll down and highlight "First Startup Device."
Press Enter. Scroll through the list of available boot order devices.
Highlight the device you want to use, such as "CD Drive" or "Floppy Drive," and press Enter.

Press the "Escape" key twice.
Highlight "Save Settings" and then tap Enter.
Power off the IBM computer and then power it back on.

I can't remember the username and password to logonto my ibm pc 300pl desktop pc. It's been years since I used it and I now need to get onto it to get some files off it. Can anyone advise what I can do?

If it is a password that is needed before windows OS boots, try the following.

Power off the computer, unplug the power cord (also any seperately powered devices connected to the computer. Open case; you will see a silver button battery with a diameter close to that of a nickel (BIOS battery). Note the direction the battery is oriented (positive side/negative side). Plug in computer and restart. After 30 seconds, shut down computer again, unplug power supply, reinsert battery same way it was originally oriented. Put computer case cover on, plug in computer, restart computer. No password will be required.

When i start my 300pl desk top system. when i

Hello my friend. That error message has nothing to do with the actual keyboard. The POST/BIOS is reading a single port bit in the system boards keyboard controller and detecting this bit as being shorted to ground. On some systems there is a keylock on the front of the case that allows you to "lock" the keyboard for security reasons. It is this lock that is being detected. On a system without a keylock, this error can be caused by one of the front panel wires being placed on the wrong pin on the system board. Or by something shorting out the keylock pin on the system board, or a hardware failure in the keyboard controller, or using the wrong version of BIOS.So make sure if your computer has a lock key/button or something on the case that locks the keyboard. Also you can load default bios settings by hitting Del while you boot if you have change anything in the bios.

CMOS BATTERY

It really depends on the Driver model.

On the latest models capicitors of BIOS can hold the charge for longer and you can easily change the battery with the new one.

If you have the old board just go ahead and change the battery as usual and dont worry for the settings at all.

You can load the safest default settings by pressings F1,F9,F10

Install a new CMOS battery. Go to walgreens, walmart, something and buy a new one. This is located on the motherboard. Following this, you may need to flash the bios, and reinstall with a newer updated version.
