I have to unplug the tv to turn it off !!! If I use the power switch or the remote to turn it off, it only kills all tv functions but with the picture still on !!! When I plug it back in, the picture appears but with no tv functions...I have to press the power switch or remote power on to have access to tv functiuons again.

It is possible. What you do is eliminate the unit and all the wires and wire the engine direst to the kill switch You need power to the coil from the kill switch, that's all. the second wire is ground, or depending on the design the kill circuit may be the ground side of the circuit. in any case the wire on the coil is positive power. you should find it fairly simple to eliminate the remote system if you think of basic requirements for the machine to run. Most remotes simply cut the power off. You will definitely need to connect 2 of the wires together. Judging from your pic I would cut all the wires and connect same color wires together.
Hi, This is a indication of what is call shut down... It ususall happens as a result of power supply problem. It is a sfety feature. To keep the hi-voltage from reaching dangerous levels and doing futher damage. Refer to a quailified tech or service center. There are voltages inside the set that can kill. Be safe.
I don't have a solution but if you take off the speaker grille on the front of the set and see two ribbonish cables, unplug the smaller one. The volume will not increase anymore but you cannot use the controls on the front of the tv and the power light will not show green anymore. You can however use the remote to do everything on the set that you would normally do. Hope this helps until I find a real solution.
a)Inside the tv there are microswitch CH+- Vol +- power, menu: when the ones are faulty," tv tends to behave at its own", change them, of course before to buy'em, unsolder th'em and try with the remote, tv has to work with out'em.
I had the same problem. My vizio remote for my 42 inch 2 month old vizio also seemed to stop working. Here's what I did: My vizio remote (like most remote's nowadays) was designed for multiple components (tv, dvd, vcr, etc). All you need to do to make the remote work again is set it back to tv. Now, the confusing thing about vizio remotes is that they actually have TWO places where you can switch the remote to the appliance you want to control. One is on top of the remote, the other is on the BOTTOM. Switch it back to TV using the BOTTOM. My remote had stopped working because I had inadvently switched it to another component on the BOTTOM component switch.
If your TV is a year old or more, chances are that the power supply is starting to fail on your TV, causing all kinds of erratic behavior up to the point of not turning on anymore.
I service these power supplies since it does not look like there are many service parts available anymore. The only way to get this TV functional again is to repair the power supply to the component level.
