Cell phone self-echo

1 out of 3 times that i answer my cell phone(Verizon Wireless) I only hear myself saying "hello"...the other party cant hear me and i cant hear them. I had the Samsung a740..they replaced it with a brand new one because of this problem..it still happened immediately! They gave me a whole different and brand new phone LG Chocolate...when I got home I recieved a call and it happened again and KEEPS happening! Everything I say is repeated back to me..the only solution is to hang up and call the person back.It only happens when I recieve calls. They arent all Verizon customers..my Mom has an iphone with ATT service and it does it when she calls too. It has been happening for about 3 months EVERYDAY!!! PLEASE HELP!! Verizon says they have never heard of this.

Hmm... that's real weird. I actually had the same problem!
But the thing was that I was in New York when I live in California... So I kind of see how this is a different situation for you.
Try setting your phone to the "E911 Only" If it not on that setting already. After I got back and did that I stopped getting echoes.
    Hope this helped :)

I live in Ohio and have a California cell phone number...could that be the problem? I have lived here for 2.5 years and it just started 3 months ago.

Hmm, I'm not sure... If you can I'd try to go to California and see if you still get the echoes. For me, heading back to the place where I said I would be using my phone more frequently stopped the echoes. Or you might just want to get a Ohio cellphone number... Like I said, I'm not too sure... well Good Luck.

Why can't people phone my phone please

  • Verizon ??
  • Dial *228 and push "Send" to complete the call to the activation service. A screen will appear over the call timer that says "Programming in Progress..." and you should hear a voice recording say, "Welcome to Verizon Wireless Over-The-Air Programming."
  • Press 1 for initial programming. This option is used if the phone has been deactivated or is being activated for the first time.
  • Press 2 to update roaming information and to download a free software upgrade to enable better roaming coverage. Pressing 2 and choosing this option will assign your phone to another tower that should enable better reception, especially when roaming

1 out of every 10 or so times I answer the phone the caller can hear me but I have no connection to hear them. Phone Co says it's the phone. Any ideas

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. Phone Company is correct with their resolution. The problem that you have with the phone is the ear piece. The ear piece is the part of the phone that allows you to hear the other party. If this is happening on the phone you might need to change the phone or the handset with a working one so that you will be able to hear the other party.

Thanks

Hello, My LG Dare Verizon Wireless cell phone has a horrible echo. When people call me, they say they hear themselves being repeated. However, I do not hear this echo. What can I do to make this echo go...

hi, lol the echo sound is usually not from the phone you are using,it's usually from network(network fluctuation ). just live it for a while it will die down and work properly later on.

But if you can't wait, you can contact the customer care service for help.Call is free.

Have a nice day.

I am getting feedback with Plantronics CS70 Wireless Headset

Echo is usually caused by the transmit (speak) level on the unit being set too high.

1. First, try lowering the volume of the telephone. If you still hear an echo, adjust the volume of the headset itself.

2. The master transmit controls of the headset are the ABCD switch settings on the bottom of the base. A is the lowest and D is the highest setting.

3. You can fine tune this setting with the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on the back of the charging base.

4. If this doesn't fix the echo, try moving the configuration dial on the left side of the charging base. The recommended setting for most phones is 1.
