My D505 did not power up this morning - Dell Latitude D505 Notebook

tried two different power supplies, with and without battery. Whether running in the docking station or alone, the Power LED, HDD LED and the Lock "A" LEDs all turn on for about ten seconds, then shut off. Now cooling fans, no drive activity, no indication or flicker on display, nothing.

THANKS-also just did that as well-HG

on another blog (sorry for cheating on you) the advice was to remove HDD and CDROM, turn on while holding the Fn key and note the LED status. All three turned on, followed by the Shift LED, then the "A" LED flashed for about ten sec.

Check the battery status, try removing the battery and just hooking up the power supply to see if it boots up

has the laptop been moved around alot recently or have you tried to upgrade the RAM?, you might open up the memory cover plate on the bottom of the laptop and make sure that the RAM is securly seated and then try to power up.

D505 not charging battery, was working when plugged in - now won't even come on even when plugged in. I have replaced the battery and also the power supply - help.

1. Try using only the power supply.

2. If it won't turn on, unplug power supply then use just the battery.

3. If these two steps doesn't work since you've already replace the battery and the power supply.
You'll need to replace motherboard.

did it start by it seeming to have a connection problem. The pins in Laptops tend to get loose. Or the box on your ac adapter could have blown. Best bet.... order a new AC. You can search ebay or the web for one

No power at all for my Dell Latitude D505

Sounds Like From Your Description That You Need Your DC Jack Repaired/Replaced..

THe DC Jack Is the Port where Your AC Adapter Plug Plugs into on the laptop.... THis can be proprietary or non proprietary.... But Either way, the Old Faulty Jack Needs To Be Desoldered and Removed, THe Board Cleaned and a New DC Jack Soldered On.. You Will Then Be able To Power On Laptop With AC Charger and Will again Be Able To CHarge The Battery..

DELL D505 laptop on off switch

Usually Ebay is where I get most of the parts I need. I couldn't find anything on the power switch, however I did find Motherboards with the power switch attached and complete machines that don't run. If you can get either at a decent price this may be the way to go. That way you have spare parts for your machine in the future. The first link is for the motherboards, and the second you'll find the nonworking machines. You can also check computer shops in your area that sell and service used machines.
