Question about Canon SELPHY ES1 Thermal Photo Printer

1 Answer

In my Selphy 710, the paper wont feed from the tray to the printer. The rollers are rolling, and the paper gets pushed up to the rollers, but Im not sure if its not gripping the paper, or if the timing is off and the rollers arent rolling when the paper is lifted. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sounds to me like the Pick up rollers need to be replaced, you can try to manually clean those rollers with some rubbing alcohol and some q-tips and gently clean those rollers, if that doesn't help then the rollers need to be replaced. You can usually find replacement pick up rollers online

The pick up roller has too much paper powder on the surface. Use a Q-tip and isopropol alcohol to clean the surface of the rollers.

Canon Selphy 710. The rollers don't grab the paper. Can this be fixed or do I have to buy a new printer? The drivers are up to date.

Had the same problem after not using the printer for many months. Removed the feed tray and blew into the printer. Then printed something but gently pushed the paper a few mm until the printer took it. Obviously top of the paper tray has to be removed for this. Expected to have to do this every time, but after four prints (which incidentally were perfect) it now works like a dream, taking the paper without attention.

Paper jam

Hi,

To fix this kind of error, remove the ink cartridge and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it.Check if anything comes out.If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of card stock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there. Open up the printer and clean the insides with a soft cloth and a brush. That should remove all the bits of paper inside. The teeth on the roller sides may have some dirt stuck on them which does not allow the rollers to roll freely and hence is as bad as paper jam. The idea is that the rollers do not roll whether because of paper or some dirt on the roller teeth. They have to be cleaned.

Thank you !!

What is the correct way to load the paper.i cant get it to feed

On the Selphy printers you put the paper on the front tray just up to the rollers. When you print the paper is drawn in toward the rear, and then prints on the way back out to the front tray.

"paper-feed error"

Had the same problem with mine, very intermittent. Remove all the paper and open the feed tray lid so you can get access to the three grey pinch rollers. Start printing then push on the roller with your finger to try and 'rough it up' (if it clicks you are pressing too hard).

The fault appears to be that the pinch rollers are loosing their grip and can not pull the glossy paper through. I dare say using a mild washing up liquid solution would be better but this is a safe quick fix.

Did this to mine and it has worked fine ever since.

Paper wont feed from tray

Sounds as if you need new rollers on your printer. I am not sure what the cost would be on this. Some are very easy to install - they just stick over the old ones.

If it is not pushing the paper out of the tray, you should first try taking a soapy cleaner like fantastic or formula 109 and clean the feed rollers and see if that helps.
The paper tray also lifts up and down to feed the paper so the gear that drives the tray up and down may be broken.
Slen the rolls first. If that doesn;t last long. Say in a day or two it starts misfeeding again, the rollers will need to be replaced.

Paper feed rolls is rolling over the paper...how to get access to those rolls

  1. Feed the paper manually into the printer:
    1. Place a sheet of plain A4 paper in the paper feed tray.
    2. Move the paper support on the left-hand side to the left end of the paper.
    3. Press the paper feed button.
    4. If the paper does not feed, continue with step 2.
  2. Check for any obstructions in the paper feed path:
    1. Disconnect the cables from the back of the printer.
    2. Open the front of the printer and check for anything that may be blocking the paper path.
    3. Close the front lid and remove any paper from the paper feed tray.
    4. Holding the printer in both hands, turn it upside down to see if anything falls out of the paper feed area. (Sometimes objects such as pens, paper clips and so on can fall into the paper feed area and cause blockages.)

You can clean with special cleaning paper which ca be used clean the rollers............
