1. Is there still power to the fridge/freezer?
(Is the fridge light still working ok?)

If so, this may be a faulty thermostat.

2. Does the black grille on the back of the fridge feel warm?
Does the compressor at the bottom, rear of fridge still work?
(You can usually hear this when it's working, and the case is usually warm, or sometimes hot)

If you are unlucky, the compressor may have started to fail.
This is expensive to repair! Around £100 to £150 ($166 to $250)

If you are VERY unliucky, there may be a leak from somewhere in the narrow pipework running through the fridge or freezer.
Although it is possible to find where the leak is (IF it's in a part that is visible!) this is an expensive repair job, and the fridge will have to be re-gassed afterwards. May cost around £100+ ($166+)

How old is the fridge?
If it's more than 10 years old, you may be unlucky and have one of the last two problems, both which are expensive to fix and this makes it uneconomical to repair.

If you are lucky, it may just be the thermostat. That's not expensive. May cost you around £10 to 20 ($16 to £33)

Viva bottom loading water cooler does not dispense water

Some others addressed this issue on Fixya.com before:
Brett 42 said: the water line is froze.. I took a hair dryer and applied it directly to the dispenser for about 10 minutes. I then held down the buttton for approximately 30 seconds and the water began to drip extremely slowly then faster until a small chunk of ice shot out of the dispenser. I believe the reason this happened was that I the temp of my freezer set lower than the fatory setting.

Lower your freezer temperature setting also ( could be set for too cold)"

I hope this helps you out!

My kenmore 253 upright freezer/fridge is not cooling the fridge part correctly. It's cool but not cool enough to keep the food fresh. The freezer works well sometimes. And sometimes it seems that it's not...

Try this test. Set a window fan behind the fridge to constantly blow air across the lower coils at the floor. If the fridge works well after a while of this, then the lower fan on the fridge needs replaced. Sometimes though, after a while, the fan will finally start working again because the cycle has finally corrected itself with the test. Leave the window fan run on low for a few days before removing it. The hum you hear is the compressor moving the coolant and is supposed to do the hum sound. That's good. Now once the fridge is working, and you still have a good freezer section and not cool enough below in the fridge for you, there is a knob that sets the cool lower by opening flaps under the freezer to let more cold down to the fridge area. Set this knob to colder and the flaps will open more.

The freezer is cold but the lower section is warm.

If your freezer section has a knob that says "Colder" then set it to the left instead of
to "Colder"
Many people mistake this for a cold control but it only closes off airflow to
the lower compartment from the freezer section.
The freezer supplies cold air to the lower compartment. You may also want to see if the vent to the lower compartment is
blocked with ice. (The vent duct is the plastic duct in the freezer compartment).
hope this helps.

Fridge section of fridge freezer not cold despite turning thermostat to max. Freezer section appears to be working fine.

Make sure that if it has a "colder" knob in the freezer section that it is not set all the
way over to coldest. This blocks all cold air entering the lower compartment when
set this way. It actually has been eliminated on some models.

Also you may have ice buildup in the stack assembly that feeds
the lower compartment or even a frozen upper compartment behind the back
panel of the freezer limiting air flow to the lower compartment. Make sure to unplug unit if service is necessary in these areas. I hope this is helpful.

My Dometic rv Refrigerator does not cool the lower (fridge section) properly. The freezer section is fine but the cold doesn't seem to be getting to the lower section. Adjusting the slide on the rear vanes...

If the freezers ok, then airflow is the issue, as the reefer gets its air from the freezer, set the dial that does not operate the compressor to the middle setting, pegging it to cold, makes the freezer colder by starving the reefer!, very common call requiring no repair , just a setting change!! never peg it!!

Does the single temperature control guage affect both, freezer and

check in the freezer section for a knob to control the freezer. Turn this knob back to center and return refrigerator setting to 5. What is happening is the freezer control is just a baffle that divides the air flow into the fresh food and freezer section. If the freezer knob is turn to 1 or cold it is sending all the cold air into the refrigerator, then when you turn down the actual cold control, the system isn't allowed to run long enough to allow the freezer to stay frozen.

Refrigerator does not get cold

In your freezer section, there should be a "control" for the freezer temp. I say "control" because the knob is attached to a flap that only controls airflow the the lower section. If the knob is turned to coldest it will block almost all of the air from getting into your fresh food section.

Freezer is ok, but lower section does not stay cold even at max

I think it's a compressor problem, must be compressor air is low .
