Beater bar intermently stops turning

It's likely that the belt is just slipping. Remove the bar and clean all hair, threads and other debris it collects in the bristles and around the ends. Check the belt for wear of the rubber; it may have teeth on it unless they were worn off from slipping. In that case you need a new one but save the old one for it's model number to purchase on line.

Roller will not turn

Conmaur102:

I don't know what type of vacuum you have, but you should check the drive belt to see if it is damaged. Remove the sole plate (at the bottom of the head) and remove the belt and roller (called the beater bar). check the bearings at each end of the beater bar (they must roll easily and smoothly). If they are bound up, pull them off of the ends of the beater bar and remove the hair, strings, and fibers wound around the end of the beater bar. Lubricate the bearings with light machine oil, and spin them by hand until they spin freely. Reinstall the belt and beater bar, and reinstall the sole plate. While you are at it... check the hose and head to make sure they are not clogged.

Z61 brush won`t rotate belt ok

Hartlepoolke:

Unplug the vacuum, turn it upside down and remove the floor plate so you can access the beater bar. Remove the belt from the motor shaft and remove the beater bar and belt from the machine. At each end of the beater bar there will be a small circular bearing. Carefully remove the bearings from the ends of the beater bar, and remove the collection of hair, carpet fibers and any other junk wrapped around the bearing mount studs. Grab an old pan... (something to wash the bearings in) and an old toothbrush. Scrub the bearings with the toothbrush dipped in rubbing alcohol, and attempt to spin the bearings by hand as you clean them. When the bearings will spin freely, dry them out, and put a drop of oil (preferably 3-in-1 or light machine oil in the bearing. Don't soak the bearing in oil, that will just attract more junk to jam the bearing. Wipe the bearings off and rotate them to ensure that they aren't ratcheting or siezing up. Check the belt to ensure that the motor spindle has not damaged the inside surface of the belt... If it has, a new belt may be in order. Reassemble the vacuum and you problem should be solved.

The brush on my Electrolux Versatility will not spin. You can spin it by hand, but the motor will not spin it.

Hello, W/D here.
Since the brush will not spin, but the motor works, either the belt has come off of the motor shaft, the belt is worn past it's useful life, or the beater bar has seized.
1. Turn off the power (unplug).
2. Remove the bottom plate. With the plate off, use your finger to test the tension of the belt. It should be tight, and roll when you roll the beater bar by hand.
3. Remove the beater bar and belt. Inspect the beater bar, particularly by the bearings. Remove any twine, hair, etc.
4. Inspect the belt for abnormal wear. If there is any significant wear in the belt, replace it.
5. Reassembly is in the reverse order. Place the belt on the beater bar. While holding the beater bar close to it's position, place the belt on the motor shaft. Rotate the beater bar bearings to their proper position and install the beater bar. Replace the cover plate.

Best regards, --W/D--

The belt broke on my vacuum, how do i change it. the vacuum is a eureka model number 3041

Remove the base plate. It is held with screws accessible from under the unit.

Inside you will see the beater bar and the belt.
Remove the beater bar. This is self explanatory once you see inside the power head.
Remove the old belt.

Find a replacement from your local dealer or online.

Replacement is the reverse of removal.

This is a simple job you only need a screwdriver.

Good luck, please rate this answer. Thanks.

The brush isn't spinning

the belt is broke. you can buy a new one for around 5-10 dollars at target or walmart, or loews or homedepot.take the screws of the bottom panel to expose belt. you will have to pull out the beater bar to replace the belt. just pull on it after the bottom plate is removed the beater bar just slides out. slide the new belt down the beater bar then pull the belt over the spinning pin. now stretch the beater back to its original position it should slide right in. replace the bottom plate and your back in business

Howdo I replace dyson belt??

Replacing the belt on the DC-17 is not complicated at all. Once I understood how, the process took about 5 minutes. My best suggestion is to call Dyson and they will quickly and cheerfully walk you through it without making you feel stupid. Here is what they told me: 1. Remove the bottom plate that covers the beater bar, using a flat head screwdriver; pull the beater bar out so that it is only attached by the belt. 2. Use the flat head screwdriver to wedge the belt off the beater bar. It takes a little bit of wiggling, but it is not difficult. 3. Once the belt is free of the beater bar, use the screwdriver to unhook it from the gear that is attached to the motor inside. 4. With the new belt, repeat the steps in reverse, hooking the new belt onto the motor gear, over the beater bar, etc.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Even though the belt looks fine it does stretch out and then it will not spin the brushroll @ the speed it is supposed to spin, there are 2 or 3 things to check. #1. The brushroll has be turning or spinning freely without the belt being on the unit. #2. The motor pulley has to be spinning freely as well #3. The belt needs to be changed every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and to store the extras belts in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. I am not sure what the brand name of the central vac is, and maybe next time you can include the brand name and model #.

Thanks, Don the Vac Man

Belt burning

the beater bar probably needs to be removed & cleaned. the shaft & bearings get bound up with hair, string, etc.. with the belt off the bar, it should spin fairly easily. if it's hard to turn,(belt off) then it's bound up.
