These are fake torrents.

Always download from a trusted source. It also helps to read any comments which may have been left.

I have an .avi file dvd rip xvid that dont play and when i open it,the message reads"plase ensure windows media player is upto date.please visit www.dbmovies.info to get the db codec".

The video file you have might be encoded with a codec you don't have installed.
There are codec packs which cover the most of them, so that media players can play videos.
You can try downloading the most popular I know, k-lite codec pack from here. And try to play the video again.

If you don't want to mess with codecs and stuff, you can always try downloading vlc media player, that plays nearly anything without the need of separate codecs.

I would suggest downloading VLC. It is a free media player that is user friendly and light on resources. This should be able to play your file. If it does not, the file may be corrupt.

What I do is download the klite codec mega pack and be sure to check Windows Media Player as one of the players to use it on when you download klite in the configurations. Or you can go and get VLC media player which has all the codecs you will need to play these files. This is what I use. So I know it works. Here are the links below. I hope that this assisted you. Thanks for using FixYa! John

Go to sourceforge.net and search for mediainfo. Download the latest version for your system (it's free). This utility can tell you what codecs are required for most media file formats and will provide links to where you can download codecs required for a specific file.
