It uses a standard balanced XLR wiring which is 1= ground/shield, 2= (+ve) hot and 3 is (-ve) cold. Do not bridge pins 1 and 3 as this mike uses phantom power. Please let me know if this helps.

Does the Behringer xm8500 work on it's own, or do I have to hook it up to something? My daughter wants a microphone she can sing into.

All microphones have to be hooked to an amplifier to work. The socket at the bottom with the 3 pins in it is called an XLR jack. You need to plug an XLR cord into that and then plug it into an amp that has an XLR or 1/4 inch microphone input (using an adapter).

If she just wants it for looks, then no, you don't need to plug it in.

My se x1 condenser mic has starting to cut out, usually just for a second and it seems to be when louder noise goes through it (though this is not too loud as its not clipping on my mixer or software)

Clipping can occur at any point in the chain of electronics and may NOT show on your mixer.

Also cheeck your phantom power voltage sent to the mic. Some mixers send much lower than the +48 volts and clipping within the mic electronics can happen with these. Check the voltage between either pin 2 or 3 and pin 1 of the XLR. Note that the pin numbering on XLR's is funny... search google for diagram.

Is a dual XLR adapter available for the MV-P612U JVC stereo mic.

The MV-P162U is a stereo mic designed to plug into a JVC professional camcorder. dates from the 1990's and was very expensive. If the 6 pin plug has not been cut off, and you can get a socket to fit, then going clockwise around pins (or wiring side of socket) from the locator.
1) R phase +
2) +8V supply
3) -ve supply/gnd
4) L phase +
5) L phase -
6) R phase -
suggest a small breakout box. tested it with a 9v battery - the drain is 14ma. could run from 12v via a 285 ohm (approx) resistor with a 47uf cap across the mic supply.

AKG Model C451 EB Microphone.

I drilled a tiny hole (.038") through the outer shell and the cartdrige where the body of the XLR connector is mounted and screwed a tiny screw into it from a pair of old glasses.

SE2200A "wind" noises during recording

Its very descriptive and is quite a common problem with less expensive condenser mics. It's due to dirt or contamination on the capsule insulator or front end circuitry of the electronics. SE should be able to fix it for not much money.

Does the SE Mini use a standard cable or is there a special cable needed for use in an amp or computer?

you'll need an xlr (male) to xlr (female) to use the microphone with 48v phantom power (from a preamp). phantom power dosnt work with an xlr to jack, only both xlr.
