1 Answer

Ok....do you think its worth changing the fan before i reinstall the operating system. as soon as i turn on the heat sinkk starts to get hot. the battery for the motherboard was alsoo completely dead, soo i replaced that today but no joy! i take it that the backup disks i created when i first brought the computer are what your talking about??

    got this little Acer L100.
when i start it, i get a series of sentences:

    Verifying DMI pool data
    Boot from CD
    NVIDIA boot agent 232.0529
    Copyright (c)2001 - 2005 NVIDIA Corporation
    Copyright (c)1999 - 2000 Intel Corporation
    Adapter_Init: Calling Phyinit

    PXE-E61:Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-MOF: Exiting NVIDIA Boot agent
Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.

basically, i replaced the motherboard battery which was dead....no joy!
when i start it up i noticed that the fan doesn't start running.....could this be why the computer doesn't boot up and it says check cable???

Sorry, I seem to have gotten in late, and do not know what you're referencing to. Fan quit? Processor fan? Yes, definitely replace it! When a processor reaches it's thermal limit, BIOS turns it off. Fail safe option built-in, to keep the processor from burning up. An AMD processor will burn up in seconds without a fan working. May be too late. (Intel's take longer to burn up)

It is not worth replacing the board as a new laptop is possibly cheaper. Could be an issue with the heat sink compound drying out and not taking the heat away correctly from the uProcessor. It may be fluff build up in the heat cooler!

Honda fireblade rr7 1000, fan starts up as soon as the bike is started and at 21/2 thousand revs it splutters then its ok after that, any ideas??

I would suspect the thermostat or an airlock in the coolant system. Air heats up faster than a liquid coolant(as used in a motorbike) so if there is an air bubble next to the thermostat it will indicate to the fan that it is too hot.

The fans change speed depending on the temperature the sensors detect.
Give your machine a thourough cleaning.
The CPU sensor is usually located under the CPU if it's loaded with dust it may think it's hotter then need be and kicks the fan up.

Have you considered flushing out the cooling system?? I think if the heater core is plugged up with a film internal your not going to get efficient heat

i think ur system fan cable need resolder. for this it cann't run freely or the other things for many dust in ur fan it can run freely. so check these if everything are ok then plz change ur system fan. u computer shut down bcoz when ur processor doesn't get sufficiant air then it become so hot and ur pc will off. its so dangerious.

Pc restarting by itself.

Try reapplying thermal compound to the CPU and reseat it. It might just be heating up and restarting due to the heat.
