On your desktop, click on the right click on the mouse. then go to properties, and screen settings. you can change the resolution from there. I would also recommend you to work on 1280x1024 as it fits best on the 17' you purchased.

Samsung syncmaster 913v gives message ' not optimum mode"

The 913V has a native resolution of 1280x1024. If you use a higher resolution than that, you'll get slightly blurry text. If you use a lower resolution, then images will be slightly choppy around the edges.

To get rid of the message, set your resolution to 1280x1024.

In Windows XP, you do this by right-clicking on the background (desktop) and selecting "Properties" to bring up the display properties.
Select the tab marked "Settings" and look for a "Screen Resolution" slider. Move that slider to the right until it displays "1280x1024" and hit "OK"

I get the following error "OUT OF RANGE" are there any steps to resolve this issue?

You need to set your PC video resolution to 1280x1024 for this monitor native resoluiton. Start up the the PC in safemode (hit f8 while booting up), set the PC resolution to 640 x 480, reboot, then reset the resolution to 1280x1024.

When booting up my windows is loading and then my screen goes black and come up with an error: recomended resolution is 1280x1024... how do I fix this?

Most probably your computer has a higher resolution or refresh frequencies set in Desktop Settings than supported by the monitor. It might be also, that you have previously installed a monitor driver for a different monitor model, and the computer is using resolutions and frequencies supported by that previous monitor, with which your new one can't cope.
The solution would be to boot the computer in safe mode (hit F8 key when the computer is starting, you can hit it a couple of times, until you see a menu; choose "Safe Mode" and hit Enter).
Go to Desktop Properties, change to Settings tab, and click "Advanced" button. In the new window choose "Monitor" tab and change the monitor to "Plug and Play monitor". Click OK to accept the settings and close both windows.
Now reboot the computer - it should start with a rather low resolution, but the picture should be visible. Now you have to go to your Desktop Settings again, Advanced tab, and move the resolution slider to position 1280x1024. Accept and enjoy.
If the computer still doesn't boot, go to safe mode again, go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, drill down to Monitors, and delete all the monitor devices installed. After a reboot, system should start up and find new hardware, and install Plug and Play monitor. Set the optimum resolution of 1280x1024 as written before.

Message received is "Resolution Notifier best resolution is 1280*1024 notification keeps appearing on monitor and I cannot get rid of it. the picture appears fine, why does the message keep appearing?

This is similar to the "out of range" message that many flat monitors give when the resolution is maybe higher than the monitor would like.

It has given you the suggestion for a good reason. As with most monitors flat or crt it is possible to shorten the life of them if you abuse them in this way.

My suggestion is to lower your resolution to the one it offer you.

Resolution 1280x1024 is missing.

Sounds like you have either a generic/basic driver, or none at all.

Reinstall your nvidia drivers, make sure to download the newest from nvidias website. Before you install, go to add/remove programs and remove any nvidia related software, otherwise the new driver installation will do you know good. And for future reference, every time you update your video drivers, you need to uninstall the old ones.

Insignia 42" LCD resolution > 1280x1024 w/ computer source

Salutations RandomDrone,

From reading your owners manual it appears the max resolution of the television would be 1280X1024 when using the VGA connection.

If you would like to review the manual it should be available at:
