pull problem code from machine. give knob a turn to wake machine-wait 5 seconds-then hold down start and cancel buttons at the same time. Your problem code will come up.

Same thing happened to us.

1. slide open the detergent/softener drawer/container,
2. look on the outer handle (where you hold to open the drawer) on the inside
3. on the right side by fabric softner there is a small slot in the dead center
4. the magnet fits there perfectly
5. to make this clearer: when you open it, look on the back side of the outer handle that you hold to open. look on the same side as the fabric softener in the middle of the back of the handle. the slot is directly across from where the handle touches the washer when it closes.

Hard to explain, but it fixes the problem. Hope this helps anyone trying to figure this out!

Pulled out detergent compartment and magnet fell out. where does it go machine wont run.

Welcome to FixYa.

The dispenser drawer on many Electrolux/Frigidaire built machines do require a magnet on the right hand side of it to activate the reed switch inside the console located there. It should fit in the bottom of the drawer, if you flip it upside down you should see it's intended location.

Let me know how you make out and I'll help further in any manner I can. Good luck.

The magnet goes on the front piece of the detergent tray. You must be getting a "DDO" (Detergent Drawer Open) error message. When you removed the detergent tray for cleaning, you probably also removed the white plastic (front) portion of the drawer from the darker plastic reservoir portion. That's when the magnet fell out. That magnet has to be in place for the washer to function properly.

It goes into the white plastic portion of the detergent tray. It is placed in the vertical position just inside the vertical wall of the front portion of the drawer on the right side (of the detergent tray) as you are looking at the washing machine. You really have to look for its' location, but with some effort you will see a vertical slot with "plastic retaining clips" which hold the magnet in place.

Hope you are successful but if not, post another problem citing details about what you have tried. I tried to post this message to you twice already, but the web site will not accept it for some reason. Perhaps they want you to purchase their "professional" (spelled expensive) service to resolve problems. We'll see.

Sidekick 3 wont stay shut.

Flip the LCD screen open, look on the backside of lcd assy, in the top center is where the magnet goes. You will need to take the front lcd cover off to put it back on.

if it's a small rectangular magnet that appears, in our case, fell out, when you add detergent, softener, etc...the magnet goes on the right hand bottom corner of the drawer face, straight up and down, not sideways. this is evidently some type of sensor allowing the washer to start. we had an error code of "ddo" when the magnet fell out.

Ddo error code

ok, I got mine to work. Push the button down on the back side of the soap dispenser that says push down or push here (to take the tray out). When you have it out you will want to turn it over and there are 3 or 4 white tabs. You will want to pop the front part of the drawer off and then on the bottom about an inch in/down there is a small slot to put it into. It is the same size as the magnet and the magnet goes with the squares on the top and bottom. You cannot actually see the magnet when the drawer is put back together. When I talked to the service man he said they did away with the magnet on the new model. How stupid to put it there to begin with!! Hope that helps and if it doesn't ask again.
