You will need to make sure that your refresh rate is set to 60Hz or the TV might not be able to read the signal. Go into your display properties, on the settings tab, click on the advanced button. Go to the Monitor tab and ensure you are on 60Hz for your VGA output. Select the proper input on your TV and you should see your picture. You may also need to switch display outputs on your notebook usually done with the function (fn) key and F5 or F6.

I wonder if by "tv" he means just a monitor. He should be able to use the FN + F5 to toggle in between the LCD and the external monitor.

If you have a blue vga connector on the laptop ,you should be able to change to an external monitor through the bios.

it dependson what connectors are on your TV. there are different ways to put your pc signal on tv. Look at your tv and then look here on ebay (cheaper price) for an adapter that has the same connections as your TV. You already know the connection on your PC (vga)

When you hook it up to your tv you go into menu and change source, such as video1 video2 ,etc.

This adapter will ONLY work with VGA display cards that has TV-Out function capability. Does yours have this?

**This cable needs special necessary display card (For example: G400, the NV6 series by superior, etc) supports the VGA signal, transforms the S signal or the AV signal, without this function this cable can not be able to use

Does your tv have rca jacks on it? Try hooking the red and yellow to them.

You have the vga connector connected to the computer, the monitor refresh rate on 60 hz,and the two RCA jacks to the tv. You switched the signal to the tv from the laptop.

you tried to get a picture on the tv by switching the video inputs on the remote or tv setup. do you get anything on any tv input source when you try it?

Laptop is working but the monitor is black. I connected with another monitor but still the same problem. What should I do? Thanks.

Fn+ F7 should allow you to toggle to the external monitor. If not then you have a video chip/card problem.

External monitor for amilo pro v2030

hi
when the external monitor is connected hold down the function key " f n " ( which is located 2nd on left of lowest row ) and then press either the F4 or F5 function keys on top line....the one that has a small icon like a rectangle or tv screen on it ....it has usually 3 toggle positions so if it dosent work first time then just press the same key again (still holding fn key) until it allows the monitor to get the signal.....if F4 dosent work then go thru the same sequence with F5 but depending on the laptop model it could be any one ...F3/F4/F5/F6 the usual suspects....
hope this helps
