Question about HP DeskJet F4280 All In One Printer InkJet

1 Answer

I have a HP F4280 printer/copier/scanner. "MFC HP Scan application has stopped working." I get this message when I scan but only if I change settings, eg change colour to greyscale. It suggests reinstalling s/w, restarting pc etc and I have done this but still get same error. Printer still under guarantee. Help appreciated.

I am not a tech geek so bear with me I am going to walk through it on my computer and tell you how to in theory get where you want to get. Hopefully it works, let me know either way. Unfortunately for you, I locate files via the explore feature so that is the only way I can find it again. Hopefully this works for you.

Right click on the Windows Icon in the bottom left hand corner of your computer (same as the start button for other features with a left click)

-Click on Explore
- Find and click on Program files
- Find and click on HP folder or Hewlett Packard Folder

-Find and Click on Digital Imaging Folder
-Double Click on BIN folder
-Find the following file: hpqscnvw
-Double click on that file (hpqscnvw)

Your HP scanning feature should open

I am thinking I may just create a shortcut of this and launch from that instead of HP solutions center if HP cannot fix this issue.

Let me know if this works for you.

Is it possible to change the properties on a HP scanner F2110 to enable finer quality scans?

At www.partsurfer.hp.com under support, you can find the specs for your scanner, but the scan quality is limited by the scan assembly and how many pixels this model is capable of.

Install the software/driver for scanner and you can try scanning (Mspaint go to File> From Scanner or Camera>) if your device is configured right and software is installed correctly it should detect the default scanner.

Hi,
The all in one solution software you used in XP doen't work with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie HP f4280) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

Hope that helps.
