System recovery boot

The Acer Aspire line of netbooks have two methods to restore the computer to a working state: System Restore, an application included with Windows, or Acer eRecovery Management, a proprietary application that is packaged with Acer PCs.

If errors appear when running Windows, or if the computer begins to behave strangely, first run System Restore to determine whether reverting the PC to a previous state fixes the problem.
If the problem remains unresolved, or worsens, you can use Acer eRecovery Management to format the hard drive and reload the Acer Aspire netbook to its factory state.

Navigate to the "Start" menu. Select the "Control Panel."
Type "restore" into the Search box.
Press "Enter" then select "Restore Your Computer to an Earlier Time" from below the "Action Center."
Click "Open System Restore."
Click "Next" on the "Restore System Files and Settings" screen.

Select a restore point that was created when the computer was functioning properly. Click "Next," then click "Finish."
Click "Yes" to confirm.
Windows will perform a system recovery on the Acer Aspire One.

Acer eRecovery Management

Turn on the Acer netbook. Hold down the "Alt" and "F10" buttons simultaneously on the boot screen to load Acer eRecovery Management from the recovery partition.

Select "Restore Operating System to Factory Defaults" from the options.

Click "Next" to recover the system to its original state.

Reset acer

The Acer Aspire One is a netbook, not a laptop.
A netbook is a smaller, scaled-down version of a laptop. It does not have the memory capacity or graphics of a regular laptop.
It also lacks a CD drive, which means you cannot restore the Acer Aspire One with restore discs. Instead, the netbook has a built-in factory restore feature.
You can reset the Acer Aspire One to factory settings just using your keyboard.
Only restore your netbook to factory settings if you cannot fix the problem any other way.
Save any files or folders on your Acer Aspire One with flash drives.
Drag and drop files onto the icon of your flash drive.
Go to Start > Restart to reboot your netbook.

Hold down Alt and F10 when you see the Acer logo on the screen.
The recovery menu will load.
Hit Enter and then Next to see your recovery options.
Choose Factory Restore to set your netbook back to factory settings.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears.
Reboot the netbook when you are prompted.
Restore your saved files from the flash drive.
or
When a vital file becomes corrupted, it might be necessary to restore a computer to its original factory settings.
This process also cleans up the hard drive and removes old programs that can make a computer slow and unresponsive.
But, because restoration wipes away all files you have installed or created, it should be a last-ditch effort in trying to repair a computer.
If you have reached this point with your Acer laptop or desktop, the manufacturer provides a utility to restore the factory settings.

Open the Windows Start menu by clicking on the icon in the lower left corner of your desktop.
Click All Programs, then the Acer folder.

Select Acer eRecovery Management to open the utility.
If a Windows prompt asks for permission to run the program, click Yes.

Click the Restore button in the pane on the left side of the program window.
Click Completely Restore System to Factory Defaults.
Select the Yes option in the dialog box that asks you to confirm the action, and click Start.
Click OK in the second confirmation dialog box to restart the computer.
Click Next in the warning window that appears after the computer reboots.
This confirms that you realize restoring the computer deletes any data stored on your hard drive.

Click Next again in the Restore Destination window, and click OK in the popup that gives you one last warning about deleting your data.
The restoration process will begin.

Click OK when the utility lets you know that the restoration is complete.
The computer will restart, and Windows will finish the recovery process.

It sounds like your install has become corrupted if safe mode and last known good do not work.

You may need to restore the netbook to factory settings, doing this will wipe off any data you have saved on the netbook.

Install the battery and connect the AC adapter to your Acer Aspire One.

Turn the system on by pressing the "Power" button.

Press and hold the "Alt" key immediately after pressing the "Power" button and tap the "F10" button.

Continue holding the "Alt" button and tapping the "F10" button until a screen saying "Acer eRecovery" appears.

You will see three options:
Restore system to factory default
Restore system from CD/DVD (grayed out if an optical drive is not connected
Exit

Click on "Restore system to factory default." A notice will appear informing you that all data on the "C:" drive will be overwritten and reminding you to plug in the AC cord.

Click "OK" to begin the recovery. A message will appear stating once again that all data on your hard drive will be overwritten.

Click "OK" to acknowledge the message. The screen will show you a progress bar as the recovery progresses. Wait until the recovery is complete. The time will vary depending upon the individual netbook. A message will appear when the recovery is finished

Click "OK" to restart the computer. The netbook will reboot. Windows will load, asking you to wait. A "Welcome to Microsoft Windows" screen will eventually appear with background music playing. It is time to help Windows set up your computer.

Click "Next" to continue. You will be asked to input your system settings. Enter your region, language, and keyboard type, then click "Next." The next window is for your time zone.

Select your time zone and, if desired, place a check in the box beside "Automatically adjust clock for daylight savings time," then click "Next." The EULA (End User License Agreement) will appear next.

Click "Yes, I accept" on both places to accept all points of the EULA, then click "Next."

Place a dot in the radio button beside "Help protect my PC by turning on Automatic Updates now" and click "Next."

Click "Skip" to avoid setting up network information at this time.

Click "Skip" to avoid setting up an Internet connection at this time.

Click "No, not at this time" to avoid registering with Microsoft at this point, then click "Next".

Click "Skip" to avoid inputting registration information now.

Put your name and the names of others who will use the computer here, one per line. Click "Next." Microsoft will thank you for setting up your computer. Click "Finish" to begin using your newly restored computer.
