Don't think there is an internal fuse.
If you have replaced or tested the plug top fuse & that's ok, it may be that the foot switch needs replacing or a wire has come loose from it.

What year is my singer sewing machine? AH251729? how do I purchase parts for it, like the zig zag attachment?

The Singer vintage machine site indicates that the AH251729 was made in 1947 in Elizabeth, NJ. For details see http://www.singermachines.co.uk/faq/tell-sewing-machine-age-from-two-letter-serial-number/ .

Look on the front of your sewing machine and locate the model number of the machine. Go to http://www.singerco.com/support/replacement-parts-chart and locate your model number. (Use the drop down menu and locate the group. Press Go and then find the pdf with the correct model parts list.) You can look up the exact part number and order them from the Singer Service Center online.

Alternatively, you may be able to find them at any Singer Authorized retailer. Just look at your machine and determine the type of shank that connects foot to the machine. (High Shank and Slant are common Singer foot designs on older machines.) Get a zigzag foot for Singer machines with that design. (If they don't have that, you can probably get a current foot and an adapter. We got an overedge foot and the high slant foot adapter for my Singer sewing machine (purchased in 1969) in the 1980s.)

I hope this helps.

I have a Electrolux canister model L-E (circa 1986). Won't turn on. I think the foot switch is broken inside. Was working fine - turned it off then would not turn on BUT foot switch sounded different,...

I have one of these LE models also. Yes, the on/off button is broken. I have had to replace it twice on mine. My local vacuum repair shop suggested NOT to use your foot to operate this switch, but just press it on or off with your fingers. That will help to keep it from breaking.

My 230 bernina does'nt move when I press the foot switch, just humming.

Sounds like the motor is either frozen or the machine is frozen. Humming means the motor is trying to turn. Is there an external hand wheel which will allow turning the machine by hand? If the machine has been in storage for a long time, the lubrication can become 'glue-like' causing difficult turning. This may require a trip to a service shop--hope this helps!

I'm a house sitter with this amazing vacuum, but don't know how to operate it in general. I simple need to vacuum the carpet. Please help me.

Unwind cord and plug it in
As you view the back of the machine, the foot pedal release is on the bottom left of the vacuum. Press this with your foot to enable you to lower vacuum into cleaning position.
Turn on and vacuum.
On/off switch is on the handle.

Sebo Felix Premium Vacuum cleaner brush will not spin. Not the belt, already checked.

Just the other day we had a customer bring a Felix in to our repair shop with the same problem. Although she'd had the Felix for several years, she'd never realized that one of the buttons on the base is a foot-operated switch (the left hand one as you see it from behind the machine). Hers had been "on" from day one, and never been switched off... until she'd obviously inadvertently pressed it without noticing and switched it off. Then she thought something had broken.
It may be as simple as that. So, does the green light come on when you operate the foot switch? If it does, and the brush doesn't spin, you have most likely got a problem with the motor (or possibly the circuit board) in the base. If the green light does not come on, there is most likely a poor (or broken) electrical connection where the bag compartment plugs in to the base.
I'll gladly try to be more help if you want to post more details.

Foot activated power switch will not remain on

This kind of switch will turn on the power when it's pressed down a little, but must be pressed down further for it to actually lock itself on. First, make sure that you're pressing it far enough. One way to tell is operate the switch with the vacuum unplugged. You'll here it click when it locks. Make sure there isn't a foreign object or gunk stuck under the foot pedal that's keeping it from moving the whole way. Finally, you'll have to open the vacuum up, with it unplugged, and check the power switch inside. Try operating the power switch with just your hand. If you think it needs a new switch, you'll easily be able to find one, and really should be able to find one for only a few bucks if you're willing to do the shopping. Just hook the new one up like the old one was.

My vaccum shut off and will not start up.

Does it try? Or is it just totally dead, doesn't even grunt when prodded?
Some will shut off if overheated, and will later start just fine.

Some will shut off if an internal filter gets too clogged and the motor is straining too hard. Open it and clean/ replace any internal filters - often it's just a piece of mesh/sponge in a frame near the motor housing, inside the machine. Remove, rinse, shake off any water, re-insert. Try to start.

If vacuum is the bag style, is there a lever/switch inside that gets pressed when the bag is too full?

For a removable bag, try removing the bag and see if the machine will run for a couple of seconds without the bag present. Of course it might have a sensor and refuse to run if _no_ bag is found... but at least if it did try to run, that would give you a clue.

If it's the kind that has a rug-beater/spinning-brush cleaning head, is there a small (usually red) button possibly labeled "Reset"? What happens if you press that? If no beater head is involved, try looking all over the outside of the machine - and then start opening cover(s) and looking inside for anything like a reset button. Or a fuse. Can't really be more specific. Not a real expert... just spent hours poking around inside my own vacuum for a different problem.
