Question about Epson Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

I am using LQ-1150II printer. I want the file to be printed in condensed mode. The manual asks me to set the 'High Speed Draft' mode off. But I don't know how to do that. Please guide me.

Change the printer's print settings to print in draft mode.
Draft mode is a low quality, but highest speed print mode.
  1. In Windows, click on the Start button and choose Control Panel.
  2. Choose Printers and Other Hardware from the menu that opens.
  3. Choose View Installed Printers or Fax Printers.
  4. On the window that opens, look for your printer's name. Right click on the printer's icon and choose Printing Preferences.
  5. On the Print Quality tab, choose Draft or Fast (varies depending on the printer).

I print labels with my Microline 320 Turbo. I put a new ribbon in and the labels are so wet and bold and after sitting for awhile they bleed until you can't read them. I have the lever on the print head...

This results from theway the print head is striking the paper. If you have it set to NLQ. it will be heavy, you can set it to a draft mode or SSD:

Print the Menu Settings, to see what your settings are:

Printing the settings is the only way to have a record of

the settings.

1 Make sure paper is loaded in the printer.

2 Enter the Menu Mode (SHIFT + SEL).

3 Press PRINT (PARK key).

Print Quality

! Important!

Front panel settings for print quality and character

pitch are overridden by software commands.
The lights will always reflect the printer's state.

Press PRINT QUALITY to select:

NLQ: Near Letter Quality

• Highest quality, slowest speed

• Courier or Gothic fonts

• Recommended for correspondence

UTL: Utility

• Medium quality, medium speed

• Gothic font only

• Recommended for internal documents and high-volume

data.

HSD: High Speed Draft

• Lower quality, faster speed

• Gothic font only

• Recommended for drafts.

SSD: Super Speed Draft

• Lowest quality (12 cpi only), fastest speed

• Gothic font only
• Recommended for fastest output of drafts.

Super Speed Draft

To use Super Speed Draft (SSD), enter the Menu Mode and

make changes as follows:

1 Press SHIFT + SEL.

2 Press GROUP twice.

3 Press SET until DRAFT prints as the setting for the Print

Mode.

4 Press ITEM.

5 Press SET (SSD prints).

6 Press SHIFT + SEL to exit Menu Mode and save your
changes.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Can not find a way to print in draft mode so toner

Laser printer can sometimes be set via the front panel on the printer for draft mode. Also, you might be able to set Draft Mode from the printer properties menu in the print driver.

The actual easiest way is change your font to something like Courier, 10P, which is a fixed spaced font.

When the document is finished, then you can do a "Ctrl A" and change the font to a more fancy font.

Want to print draft mode in dot matrix printer in XP

Not all dot matrix printers will print in draft mode. When operating from DOS it was usually necessary to send an Esc(ape) code such as ESC @ in ASCII code. I don't think it can be done from Windows; in fact some windows programs will not even talk to a dot matrix printer. Some printers have one or two banks of DIP switches, but before changing them you need to read the manual to see what they do. There could be one which allows Draft MOde.

Hi we were using Win98 in our DOS mode POS program and the printing is good and well. But we change to Win 2000 and WinXp due to software upgrade. Everytime we print in our epson LQ-300+ the printer stops...

Hi there,

Printer:
  • Open up your printer preferences.
  • Click on the Ports tab.
  • The LQ is probably Hooked up parallel to the LPT1 port.
  • Highlight it
  • Click on Configure Port
  • Increase Transmission Retry to 180
  • Click OK and try to print again.
Virtual Memory:
  • Control Panel
  • System
  • Click the Advanced Tab
  • Click on Performance Settings
  • A new window will open
  • Click on Advanced
  • In the Virtual Memory box click Change
  • You can increase the size from here. Make sure the increase is in increments divisible by 128.
  • If you have multiple drives you can create additional page files on them. This will increase speed.
  • Whatever you do, don't select the 'No Paging File' option.
Spooling:
Your computer is able to process data much faster than your printer can print it. Spooling is a process that allows the print process to finish at high speed with the output going to a temporary 'Print File' that feeds the printer at a speed it can handle. It's a way of quickly freeing up resources.

Hope all this works for you.

Speed of print

A printer is designed to print at a certain ppm (page per minute), so really there is only one way to speed it up. When you select the print option from the File menu, you can select properties and see if you can change the dpi (dots per inch) of the document. Your document will print faster but you will lose quality.
