It's probably a 12 volt center tapped a/c transformer, you could look on old unit transformer and see if this is the voltage output, then go to any electronics parts store and get a repl trandformer rated at 12v.a.c. and is center tapped at least 1 amp cuuent output

Can the two transformers be hooked in parallel to service a 500 W zone?

If you are talking about low voltage light transformers, then answer is probably NO... but you could try it and see if it works... but I am almost certain that both transformers will probably burn out.
Output is 12 Volt AC... the transformer coils will probably burn out because the waveform from each transformer cannot be guaranteed to be the same.... even if both transformers are seemingly identical and plugged into same outlet.

For additional information, read transformer installation tips on following page.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Malibu-power-pack-stopped-working.html#install

Power company transformers can be wired together in specific ways to produce 3-phase waveform, but these transformers are specifically engineered for the task. And the transformers do not combine the output (as you would be doing with yard transformer), instead each power company transformer produces 1 leg of power in a 3-leg power supply.

How do I fix the fan?

The fan's power comes from a multi output transformer.
Either the fan is burned out or the transformer is burned out or the fans moles plug is not plugged in properly.A simple voltage spike or brownout can take out the transformers.

I have the ML300RTW transformer. Just need to know about the trippers, one red and one black. Which one turns the system on and which one turns it off.

Here's how to check your power pack: Connect everything and set trippers randomly, and then manually rotate dial clockwise and watch when lights turn on-off, this will let you check if you have trippers set correctly.
As time passes, the dial rotates, and trippers push on-off lever that turns low-voltage lamps on-off.

If trippers no longer work, it's because trippers are worn down or the lever is worn out or the electrical contacts have burned. And the clock motors slow down and burn out.
There are no repair parts for low-voltage transformers. No trippers or timers.
"Harry" wrote to fixya with idea when timer no longer works: he bought cheap plug-in timer, set power pack to override, and then plugged power pack into cheap timer.

Since there are no repairs for low voltage transformers, I found tips that might save money:
The reason I add tips now, before power pack needs replacement is some fella wrote fixya.
He bought 500 Watt power pack to replace 300 Watt > thinking bigger was better.
Power pack burned out. Here's why:
a) Match wattage of bulbs with wattage of power pack
Lets say you have fifteen 20 watt bulbs = 300 watts, so install 300Watt power pack
b) Installing a 500W power pack on 300W of bulbs will burn out bulbs and power pack.
c) Replace bulbs as soon as they burn out or other bulbs will burn out and power pack will burn out.
d) When working on bulbs, unplug power pack or it may burn out.

Also take advantage of fixya phone service.
For a price, expert speaks with you over phone while you work on timer or any do-it-yourself project.
Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.

My malibu landscape 300w transformer does not want to come on

Check that power pack is getting electricity.
Power pack should make a small humming sound when on.
Scratch a wire across both terminal screws and see if there is spark.
If a bulb burns out, and is not replaced, additional voltage can burn out other bulbs.
Power pack should be unplugged if bulbs are not burning since that can burn out power pack.
Change out a couple bulbs and then plug-in power pack.
Check connections where lights tie into wire.

My power pack was doing same thing, I bought another power pack from Home Depot to check my lights. All but 2 bulbs were burned out. I replaced bulbs and returned new power pack.. and then power pack quit for good a month later.

I found tips to preserve power packs:
1) Match wattage of bulbs with wattage of power pack
-15 each X 20 watt bulbs = 300 watts, so install 300Watt power pack
2) Installing a 500W power pack on 300W of bulbs will burn out bulbs and power pack.
3) Replace bulbs as soon as they burn out or other bulbs will burn out and power pack will burn out.
4) When working on bulbs, unplug power pack or it may burn out.
