Question about HP LaserJet 4300 Printer

HP Laserjet 4300 - constant print problems - error 13.01.00

Tells you to open/close top cover or paper jam in tray 2 - but this is all the time - switching off the printer sometimes seems to reset it and it works for a bit then off we go again - the printer is networked but works like this for everyone

    ok seem to have sorted for now - top cover was not 'clicked' although it looked correct - thanks for all your help

You should clean catrige as well Printer I think its usualy happen when there is dust type thing present on catrig area other wise you should change your catrige wih new 1 it will b goood I think you understood

You probably have a scrap of paper stuck in the feed where someone has janked a piece of paper out.

Does it jam at the fuser when doing a single print?

These machines have a Maintenance kit required every 200 000 prints, these MK's include all feed rollers, a transfer roller and the entire fuser assy. To replace the kit fixes all issues I've seen in these printers besides when the cartridge affects print quality.

If it is jamming at the fuser on a single print done via the printer operations panel, and your paper is fresh, it could only be the feed roller having trouble gripping the paper or the fuser not turning/stuffed.

Feed Kit, I have my doubts as to this being your problem

Was is noisy before it died?
I have seen a few with stuffed fuser drive gears but not many and customers could hear it wearing.


How many prints since last MK? via keypad print a configuration page, count is there ie pages since last maintenance xxxxxx

Error light orange


This state can be reached in the following circumstances:
  • Paper tray is empty
  • Door open
  • Paper jam
  • Misfeed from tray

Action

Verify that the print cartridge is present and that the print-cartridge door is closed correctly.
Verify that media is present in the input tray.
Clear any jams and perform paper-path functional checks.
To reset the printer after a jam, press the Go button.
You might need to clear the error manually, and press the Go button or close the top cover.

This error is associated with either a sheet of paper blocking the paper path or a partial piece of paper that blocks path or trips a sensor. The printer will usually throw up a error code 13.XX on the display and the XX is a number that will indicate where in the paper path this error most probably occurred. Just follow the steps for your error on the below chart.

If the message persists after all jams have been cleared, a sensor or sensor lever might be stuck or broken. For all jam messages, do the following: 1. Remove jammed print media from the specified location. Check the entire paper path for other pieces of media in the path. 2. Open and close the top cover to clear the message. 3. Check sensors and flags in the paper path for proper operation. 3.0 PAPER JAM [LOCATION] A non-specific paper jam occurred. 1. Remove jammed media from the specified location. 2. Verify the paper tray is fully closed. 3. Inspect and/or replace the feed and separation rollers. 4. Ensure there is no obstruction in the path, such as a torn piece of paper. 5. This error is caused by a defective paper control PCA Replace paper control PCA. 13.2 PAPER JAM OPEN INPUT TRAYS Paper-stopped jam at paper-feed area. 1. Check the input area for obstructions such as paper in the path. Also check to see if the registration assembly is damaged or if the transfer roller is out of place. 2. Replace any defective sensors or flags. 3. Ensure the media does not exceed the maximum length. 4. If multiple sheets are feeding, it might be necessary to fan the media and reduce the stack height. Also, replace separation pad. 5. Verify that the fuser is properly installed. On NX engines this is an input jam. 13.20 PAPER JAM CHECK REAR DOOR Media stopped in the paper path during power on or when the top door was closed. 1. Remove all media in the paper path, and then open and close the top cover. 2. If the message persists after all media is removed: Check if media is jammed in the prefeed area. Replace any defective sensors or flags 13.21 DOOR OPEN JAM The top cover was open while printing. 1. Clear the jam and close the top door. 2. If the message persists, check the top door switch for proper operation. 13.5 PAPER JAM CHECK REAR DOOR Paper-delay jam at fuser. 1. Check the transfer roller and small media belt to ensure they are operating and can feed print media. 2. Check the paper path for obstructions at the transfer roller, toner cartridge, paper feed assembly, and fuser. 3. Replace any defective sensors or flags. 4. Turn the media stack over and/ or rotate it by 180° in the input tray. If still persists - replace fuser, then DC controller. 13.6 PAPER JAM CHECK REAR DOOR Paper-stopped jam at fuser. 1. I have a problem. When I turn on my printer, the first symbol from top constantly blinks and it doesn't print anything. How can I solve this issue?

If the first symbol on the top is constantly blinking as shown in the picture below, It means that a paper or a foreign object has jammed your printer.

Jam can occur in 3 areas. Please refer to the image below.
1. Internal Areas
2. Input Trays
3. The Output Bins

To clear the jam, turn the printer off and disconnect the power cord. Be careful not to tear the paper in case of a paper jam. If a small piece of paper remains in the printer, it could cause additional paper jam.

Let's clear out the Internal Areas first. Push the button to open the print-cartridge door, and then remove the print cartridge. To prevent damage, do not expose the print cartridge to light. Cover it with a piece of paper. Please refer to the image below.

If jammed paper is visible, grasp it with both hands and slowly pull it out of the printer. Please refer to the image below.

If no paper was jammed inside the print-cartridge door, open the Output Bin or the back door
of the printer. To avoid damaging the printer, do not attempt to clear a jam in the top output bin by pulling the paper straight out.

Again, if jammed paper is visible, grasp it with both hands and slowly pull it out of the printer.
If no paper or foreign object is visible, close the back door of the printer.

Next, let's take a look at the Input Tray. (We have already taken out the print cartridge.)
Lift the Tray 1 roller cover, grasp the jammed paper or foreign object, and slowly pull it out of the printer. Please refer to the image below.

If no jammed paper is or foreign object is visible, open Tray 2 and see if a paper is visible. Again remove it slowly with both hands. Please refer to the image below.

Close Tray 2.
If no jammed paper is visible in the second tray area, pull down the upper media guide (we have already taken out the print cartridge). With both hands, grasp the jammed paper and slowly pull it out of the printer. Please refer to the image below.

Close the upper media guide and return back the print cartridge. Please refer to the image below.

These steps should clear out any jams that you are experiencing.
Connect back the power cord again and turn on your printer. You should be able to print now.

Flashing light


Here is what HP has on the subject of the triangle light flashing:

The printer is in an error state that requires operator intervention or help. Check the following:
  • The print cartridge door is completely closed.
  • Media is loaded.
  • The print cartridge is correctly installed in the printer.
  • There is no media jam.

The Attention LED is blinking. Check paper loading then open and close top cover.

When there is a jam in tray 1, verify the paper is loaded correctly, open and close the top cover. Pressing GO is ignored.

When there is a jam in tray X, verify the paper is loaded correctly, open and close the top cover. Pressing GO is ignored. These are the error explanations for just the flashing triangle light, there are many more, but none for just the flashing triangle.

If the light pattern is different let me know (other lights on as well)
