To setup a wireless Internet connection you need the following :-
1. You need either a cable or DSL modem with a wireless router or a 3G wireless modem that connects to a 3G wireless network.
2. You need to signup with an Internet Service Provider. The Internet Service Provider may also provide this modem at a cost.
3. The Internet Service Prodider will provide an installation instructions/CD as well as E-mail setup.
Have you already installed the wireless card driver on your computer?
Can you give me details of what you have already done in regards with setting up the wireless access.
My PDA n30 is not a year old yet - when I put it to sync and charge everything looks fine but when I unplug it does not stay charged - it blacks out straightaway.
If you do this and post the results I can tell you how to configure the router as you do not need the domain:-
1. connect to modem with an ethernet cable, without the router 2. assuming it's windows, start --> control panel --> Network Connections --> double click on the Local Area Connection --> Click details and post ip address, subnet, default gateway and both dns servers
If your router has wireless broadcasting. Check all the settings in your router. Add the MAC address of the WIFI Card to your routers Wireless settings and also maybe in your firewall settings in the networking of your router. Be sure to add the WEP key when you connect to your router. Check your security settings.
In general the Wan port of the router gets
connected to the modem (box supplied by your internet service provider or ISP) where the computer used to connect and the
computer connects to the switch portion of the router which often has 4 or more
ports. The router has configuration options that must be set to comply
with your internet service providers (ISPs) requirements. These can often be found on his support web site.
If you can provide the link to the website I can assist with the
search. Otherwise I will need the name of the ISP. If this ISP is cable
related like Road Runner I will need the associated cable provider. I
will also may need to know the country, city and state in which you are
located as some ISPs have geographic differences in equipment.
Depending on what that information determines I may also need to know
the Manufacturer and Model of the Modem -- probably the box supplied by your ISP. It would also be helpful to
know if you got the router used or new. Used routers may have been
configured by their previous owner and require additional changes to
new routers with factory default settings.
All of the above information may
lead to the determination that maybe we must enter a static IP address
into the router, maybe we need to provide for PPPoE login for the
router, maybe we need to configure the modem to allow the router to
perform the PPPoE login, and several other such items. This is probably
not a one reply solution.
To provide detailed information concerning that I will need to know the model number of your Belkin Router.
