If it's still under warranty I would call for repair service. It sounds like typical internal power supply trouble that needs electrical troubleshooting.

I would look on the power supply board and check for any capacitors that are bulged or popped. They look like little barrels with a cross or 3 line star on the top. This is the vent and it should split before the capacitor pops like a firecracker or blows its top off like a bottle of shaken champagne. I bet you have 8 bulged or popped caps on the P/S and they can be replaced at about .30 cents a piece and a soldering iron. Just make sure you get the right farrad ratings, like 470 micro farrad and get them rated to 105c for heat resistance. Most are 25V but you can use the more common 35V safely. If you are going to toss the monitor in the trash, do yourself a favor and at least spend 30 minnutes looking into these. It may save your monitor. If the lamps even light for a few seconds, its not the lamps. If the inverter is bad, you would get no light. the starting of the lamps takes lots of voltage, keeping them going is about 1/4 of the start voltage so if they start, the inverter is doing its job.

What cable are you using? I'm not aware of any driver? Try the settings in the TV, select Input, select the port you have connected to the computer. Take a look at this user manual:

Bought new visionquest 19" monitor,

Nope it isn't defective. You don't mention from your question if you bought a LCD type or the CRT type of monitor. But I think you bought a LCD monitor right? My question here is where do you connect it? From the graphic card or in the onboard vga of your motherboard? How old is your graphic card/onboard vga? That is always the problem of an old graphic card because it can't release more pixels that's why it says out of range. Connect your old monitor it will work because it can support your graphic card/onboard vga. Buy a new graphic card with a specification that will suit to your motherboard and to your new monitor before it become a money waste

My samsung 22" lcd tv

The only thing that comes to mind, as you haven't said if you have had it working on it or not, is the fact that it is not capable of handling the resolution you have got set on your computer. to fix this set your computer to a low resolution, connect to your TV and see if it works. If it does increase your resolution setting until it stops working. (if you get it wrong it will revert to the setting before). Hope this helps.

I hace tried to connect my laptop (via a female to female monitor lead) to my 37 inch beko LCD TV. It loads on the tv screen then displays out of range and switches back to the laptop monitor.

On your computer open display properties-> Srttings. Slowly scroll the "resolution" bar and see any of the resolutions give you an image.

I have upto now been using my LG Flatron L1919S monitor as a tv with a separate tuner. today i replaced it with an LCD tv and was going to use the monitor for my computer. however when i connected it up...

It means your PC video output resolution is too high for the LG monitor to display (your old monitor (CRT) can handle higher resolution than this LG LCD monitor), you need to set the PC video resolution to native resolutionof this monitor which is 1280 x 1024 @60Hz. You may have to use the old monitor (CRT) to set the resolution to 1280 x 1024@60Hz, then hook up the LCD monitor.

How can i use my digilogic lcd tv as a computer monitor? it has the connections as my current monitor but when i connect the tv to the computer there is no picture, the computer base is recogniseing the tv...

Have you checked the menu set-up option on the TV set ? Your computer may be sending an out of range signal, so set it to low resolution and try that. Obvious other thing is the "input" setting, it may not auto detect it.

When I switch my 22'' lcd monitor on it displays a message '' disconnected '', I have just bought it secondhand.

The message "disconnected" shows that the LCD not receiving signals from the input source.
Verify that the source is working properly.
If you are using this LCD as a PC monitor, connect it to the PC's VGA out via a VGA cable. Make sure that your PC's display output is working (are you able to use another monitor?).
Also try using another VGA cable to check if your old one is faulty.
After making appropriate connections, turn your LCD off and then back on after 10 seconds.
If your problem is still unsolved, it may be a sign of a faulty component inside the LCD but the chances are rare.

How do you use a beko 32" hd tv as a pc monitor?

Thanks for the detail-
VGA connections are pretty uncomplicated so the only thing that might need setting is the PC's video settings which may be set for higher than the 768 line standard.
The TV may not be sending information to the computer for Plug and Play use but you could try this anyhow:
- Have the TV turned on. the PC off. - If not still connected, connect them. - Turn on your PC.
If the TV set is conforming, it should send a signal packet to the PC with information about itself. You will see early if it had; a Windows dialog box should tell you 'Found new device (or hardware), installing software'
If that or similar did not appear, then after the PC is booted, Open the Control Panel, then the Display folder, then click on the Settings tab. You will see a linear control for the resolution that will step from one standard to the other, up or down from the current setting. Unfortunately, it won't change anything until you click on OK or Apply but it pauses after clicking shows the result then asks if you want to keep that setting.

Sounds like the PC has too high a screen resolution set for the TV to handle
Re-connect PC to PC monitor , change display resolution to 800 x 600 (right click desktop, properties, settings, slider marked "screen resolution" to leftmost side, save settings.
connect PC to TV, TV should be able to display PC data now.
Go through same procedure with PC connected to TV, move slider to 1024 x 768 posn. (depends on TV model as to what it can cope with) - *apply* this setting & see if TV is able to display at this resolution.
If it is, desktop will appear - if not, you'll get the warning box generated by the TV...don't worry, in 15 secs, the PC will revert to the old (working) setting.

Hope this helps.
