This reason you where not provided any software is due to the increase in size of HD (hard drives). When HD became big enough computer manufactures eliminated back-up software on CD and opted to place the software on the HD. They do this using a hidden partition on the HD. This has the added benefit allowing you to restore it back to how it came from the factory or to your last system save.

If you are not sure whether or not you have the Hard Disk Based Recovery, (HDBR), then follow these instructions.

The hidden partition contains an image of the software preloaded. This image is part of a new recovery process called HDBR .

  • Pressing [F8] during the boot process the advanced Windows start option will appear with the new option: "repair computer".
  • Choosing this option a Windows Recovery Environment will be started. In addition to the MS Windows tools, you will find a Fujitsu Recovery Tool. This tool allows you to set the software of the computer back to the delivery state. If you delete the hidden partition this feature is no longer available.
However, if you do not have any media included to your computer it is not recommended to delete this partition because you are no longer able to recover the system then.

Hope this helps, but if not please let me know and I'll try and help.

You have a few choices:

1. Contact Microsoft and pay them whatever media fee they want.

2. Download a torrent of the CD. (a little risky). You should search for "XP Retail"

3. Borrow one from someone. You might luck out with a OEM disc.

4. Go to your local ma and pa computer repair shop and ask them if they'll burn you a copy of their disc.

5. Or use one of those "CD repair kits" on your damaged windows CD you had from your last post. You might luck out.

I have installed dual os(XP and Ubuntu Linux 10) on same drive It is working but my pc became very slow. Now I want to uninstall any or both os but it is showing error. So suggest me How can I?

Hi, try the following sequence.Insert your XP disk and reboot, during bootup press your ESC button or Del on some PCs, you will be in BIOS, from here you can change you primary boot drive, select CD rom, save changes and reboot. Press return when request to boot from CD appears, wait for the sequence to finish installing, select the section of the drive you wish to change, select delete, confirm and then reformat your hard drive. PC will reboot afterwards and start installing XP. Be aware this will remove everything from your hard drive, so back up first. Hope this helps

HP 520 Notebook. Shuts down before installing new OS.

I agree a clean install is always the better, fresh start J
OK it sounds like missing drivers, what you have to do is create a new installation CD that will load the drivers for your laptop as it boots. I haven’t try this method with windows 7, but I know it works well with Windows XP. Try and create a new Windows XP CD with the drivers see: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/35/
The start a new installation with this Windows XP CD and reformat you computer, after that you can do a new upgrade to windows 7

I reformatted my computer and i cant get drivers

If you have linksys hardware install the cd that came with hardware and get to linksys website and download latest driver. Reformatted cleans drive to zip data and you needed to reload XP to get it going so anything you installed after the system purchase you will have to reinstall.

How to install windows xp in presario c700?

First download all of the Xp drivers , unless you have then on a disk already. (Link provided below) Next:   Insert the windows Xp disk into the cd driver. When it says ;"OS system found do you want to repair it?" or anythng else say No. If will say reformat driver? Say Yes. Let it run giving it all the information requested  including the registeration numbers that came with the Win Xp disk when you bought the disk by itself.  Install all of the drivers, one at a time .

Computer Won't Recognize Printer

This is a tough one. When you say that "My Device Manager isn't showing up any of my hardware..." does that mean that there are other hardware problems in the device manager? When you plug the printer in, how des it show-up in the device manager (ie: unknown device under HID)? Why did you "... recently reformatted my computer ..."?
