Tip

Configure the DPH-540 with RingCentral

To get the DPH-540 to work with RingCentral, you need to add a DigitalLine to your RC service. Then you need ignore the email sent by RingCentral which provides configuration info; instead, login to your account on the RC web site.
Click on the Preferences tab, then the "Setup Instructions" for the DigitalLine device. That should produce a popup window with info like:

SIP Domain: sip.ringcentral.com:5060
Outbound Proxy: sip.ringcentral.com:5090
User Name: 1805715xxxx
Password: yyyyyyy
Authorization ID: yyyyyyy

The password will be the same as the Authorization ID.

Configure your DPH-540 just enough so that it can obtain an IP address via DHCP. Then use a browser to configure most of the rest of the DPH-540 (user admin, password admin by default). However, the browser interface does not let you associate a SIP configuration with a profile; that must be done on the phone itself (consult the userguide and just keep at it; it's not that hard).

For an image of what the web interface and config page for a DPH-540 SIP configuration looks like, see http://homepage.mac.com/saj777/techtips/DPH-540_RC-config.jpg

Want to migrate fom sccp to sip protocol for cisco IP Phone 7912

Here's a great little document from Cisco directly, called "Converting a Cisco 7940/7960 CallManager Phone to a SIP Phone and the Reverse Process"
Easy to do, just follow the step-by-step directions.

Can I use a CISCO IP 7941 phone, that has been on a company network, in my home? Should it just work by plugging in a telephone connection and using the appropriate power supply? Is there programming that...

Yes, there is programming which would need to be removed. However, you would need a cisco call manager($800) at home. Unless of course you have voip in your home. then you could just set it to DHCP I'm assuming and then it should just work!

Cisco IP Phone 7940 and 3com nbx as 3rd party SIP phones

Here are the instructions for configuring these units for 3cx

Since the 3cx softphone worked well, I don't see why you couldn't configure each as for 3cx and make them work as well.

Polycom SoundPoint 550-Only Showing 1 line

On the phone, press the menu button, then status, then IP status or whatever and get the phone's IP address. Write the ip address down. On your computer, open up a web browser and input the phone's IP address into the address bar and press enter. This should arrive you at the web gui for that phone. It'll probably ask you for login credentials; by default, the name is "Polycom" (yes , it is case-sensetive) and the password is 456. Once you are logged in, you should see several links like "General" "Network" "Sip" and "Lines". click on Lines. under "line 1", you will see the configuration for that line. simply duplicate the entries for lines 2, 3, and 4.

Converting Cisco 7940 IP Phone to SIP

Unlocking a Cisco 7940

Method 1:
1) Unplug the phone
2) Plug the phone back in while holding the # key
The phone will soon display “Reset key sequence detected”
3) After several lights flash press the following keys in order:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 * 0 #
4) The phone will then ask you if you want to save the network configurations:
Save network cfg? 1=yes 2=no
5) The phone will soon display “Factory reset initiated” and will continue
through the boot up process.
If that process fails to work for some reason there
is a second method.

Method 2

Complete these steps:
  1. Press Settings.
  2. The Network Configuration lock symbol must be unlocked. If not, exit to the main window and press ** # again.
  3. Press 3 on the keypad (or scroll down) for Network Configuration.
  4. Press 33 on the keypad (or scroll down) to Erase Configuration.
  5. Press the Yes softkey.
  6. Press the Save softkey.
The phone will now be reset.
