Double check for screws. there is a screw or two that your missing. normally the unit will come apart when all screws are removed. also make sure that you are not standing on carpet. when working inside of the computer.

Free recovery disks for hp pavillion zd8000 with windows 7

As far as I know, the original zd8000 operating system is Windows XP. If you have Windows 7 installed, then you need to get Windows 7 disc and its product key. If you need the Windows XP reinstallation media, then you can use HP Windows XP reinstallation disc only (for example: HP Windows XP Professional with SP2 disc).

I have a hp pavillion zd8000 laptop and the plastic on the left hand side of the draw that opens to insert cd's to download is missing-do i need to buy new one as i open it with a pin.

It would be preferable to replace it, of course...but it isn't really required if you're just careful. You would need to contact HP direct in order to TRY to get the part...they generally won't sell repair parts to individuals, but only to authorized repair centers.

Hope that's helpful.

How do I install a new memory card?

Thats real easy one, open up the Flap covering the RAM underneath the PC, you will see a "Strip" of RAM, carefully pop that out, take care to not touch the Gold Fingers, now have a look at the Description & Numbers on it, now take that strip with you, to the "Memory Shop" :) and select another Strip (Called a DIMM) that is compatible with it. Now simply clip them back into the slots where you removed the first one, they can only go in one way, and can put any DIMM, anywhere, and replace the flap. Turn on the PC, it will automatically "Find" the new Ram & just work.

What is main power supply for a laptop?

I would say that is most likley the motherboard not the power supply and this is a pretty big job you would have to take the laptop apart if the laptop is under warrenty I would use it otherwise you would most likley be better off getting another computer unless you are very good at taking computers apart. You can go to HP website support and get repair manual and it will tell you how to take apart.

I actually have an HP Pavillion zd8000 where I need to install a new DVD "D" Drive. I have removed all of the screws, including the ones under the battery, by the Hard Drive, the back base of the monitor...

Generally, the optical drive can be removed without taking the casing apart, just one screw holds it in under the laptop. If yours is one of those that does need to come apart, you will need to make sure that the two screwsat the rear of the laptop are undone. When you take the bexel off where the power button is, there will be two more screws holding the hinge in, they need to come out too. Then you need to remove the LCD screen before the rest of the case will come apart.

you should not have to take this unit apart to replace the drive. flip the laptop over and there should be a screw with a (0) looking etched in the case like a cd rom its usually one screw. if you can not find it. only remove the ram case and see if there is one there. once you remove this only screw your drive will slide out for replacement

Good Luck!
