Question about Acer Aspire 5050-3242 Notebook

My notebook keyboard does not work. I got a new notebook last month and the keyboard doesn't work. I went to the store where I got it and they said that it is not under warranty.

U r keyboard is likely to b defective or ur ram..
lightly strike/tap the keypad using ur hand..

if u r a professional, open the keyboard..deep clean all the carbon contacts beneath the keys using Iso-Propyl alcohol..put/stick 'Carbon-Dots' (available in cheap level spare market) as n where necessary..
hope it'll work..

better to seek professional supervision esp of ur system admin/vendor....

That sounds like a bunch of ****. if its a brand new notebook it should be under warranty. even the crappiest retail stores give warranties. did something outside of your warranty happen to it? if not i would contact someone about him. im sure acer wouldnt like the fact that he issnt giving warranties on there product.

Check out the warranty period on the ACER WEB site. The warranty should be more than one month - more like 12 months.
If you cannot get satisfaction contact a consumer affairs department and lodge a complaint.

I'd try a different keyboard and see if the caps light works on that - so you can confirm whether it's the keyboard, or computer.

Sustain pedal doesn't work any more - maybe it isn't the fault of the pedal? I don't want to order a new one if the problem is in the keyboard. I'm sorry, I just lent it to summer guests...


take it into a music store and try a pedal there in store. If it works, buy the new pedal and charge the guests. If it does not work, you know it's th TS input on the keyboard

There is not so much that could be done to repair a keyboard. Disassemble the laptop, check the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. If the ribbon cable is loose, tighten it. If it is tight, replace the keyboard with a new one

A friend spilled a little soda on the keyboard of his toshiba laptop a505 and it worked for a little while the number pad went and now it will not come on. i get the battery light to come on when pluged in...


if your patient enough wait for about a month till it all drys out or take keyboard out and dry, you might have to get new key board either way.

Have had this Asus 50IN for 2.5months. After 1 month some of the keys on the keyboard started to become intermittent. Comma "," and the Period "." especially. Now after 2.5 months, the "v" is not working...


Use a keyboard cleaning foam and spray to clean it. If this does not help maybe you need a new keyboard and since it has warranty then they should replace it for free.Hope that helped!!!

Keyboard problem in Dell Latitude PPX C Family


Actually this is a common problem with these Dell's. I have never found a cure for it other than replacing the keyboard. Fortunally they are not expensive, you can usually get one off of eBay for around $20 or so.

Wireless keyboard and mouse freeze more and more frequently


Try pressing the green button on the mouse receiver and the green button on the bottom of the mouse. I believe that they serve to connect to each other. Mine went out when I changed the battery. Sometimes I think that my computer acts funny when the wireless parts pick up some stray signals from the neighbors. At least that happened to my garage door when the neighbors installed some new wireless computer equipment!!

Battery usage


Mine normally lasted for about a month. Went to rechargables. Cheaper overall.

A week is bad. I'd be calling Logitech, or the store you purchased it at.

Mouse is jumpy on new mousepad


You can adjust the sensitivity of your mouse.

Go to Control Panel>Click on Mouse>Lower the slider bar

Try again and see if it works any better.
