It's possible the fan on the motor has disintgrated. If this is the case replace the motor.

My dyson dc28 brush stopped turning after a pop and smoked. Smelled like burnt plastic. The attachment hose still has suction and is working fine. What happened?

Hiya.

When an object gets under the machine it can
cause the brushbar to suddenly jam. The belt between the motir
and the brushbar however is forced to keep turning
causing the rubber belt to burn an then break.

My Oreck vacuum cleane won't turn on

I have an Oreck vacuum. My son used it just earlier today and it worked just fine, then just a little while ago a tried to turn it on to vacuum our bedroom and suddenly it won't turn on! I tried plugging it into other outlets but it was no use. My husband takes a look at it and first thinks that the switch is out in it. He takes the handle apart and quickly realizes that it is not the switch that is causing the problem. Then he took the base of the vacuum apart, removes the spin brush part and cleans it off, puts it back together, and suddenly it works! He said that when those brushes get real dirty the motor gets clogged, then it just won't turn on. I'm just happy I married someone who can figure these things out, because even if I knew the problem I'm still no good with a screwdriver, taking things apart and putting them back together again. Hope this works for your Oreck too and it's running again for you soon.

The drive belt doesn't turn.

The drive belt may have just melted a notch into the rubber on the motor piston.
With the cover off, are you able to move the brushes by hand? When the brush bar turns, does the drive belt move too? If so, move it for a full rotation of the belt (make a mark with a Sharpie and move it until you see your mark again)

If there's a melted notch or "Dent" in the belt, you'll need to replace it

Easy-Flo 1525 will not turn off

There is a relay back on the master unit. When the hose is plugged into the inlet the metal on the coupling completes the electrical circuit to the relay. In your case the coupling has a split and the circuit continues to the switch in the handle. As long as there isn't any conductive surface left across any of the contacts in any of the inlets, the relay is hung up. I never heard of that happening until today when I responded to the exact same problem on a different machine. The relay needs to be replaced.
The "screeching" on the other hand should have nothing to do with the relay. That sounds like a motor bearing without proper lubication and/or going bad.

Loud whistling noise from back of vacuum

On the back side of most kenmore vacuums, there is an air relief diaphragm that, when the motor is sucking but there is no air flow, will pop, causing the sound you heard. check your hose for blockage, check your bag and or filter for blockage, even your attachments/wands can become lodged with debris. Often, after a few, the motor will get hot and the machine will shut down. This is a thermostat on the motor that protects it from overheating. I am quite sure that this will solve your kenmore woes, fine choice in vacuum, kenmore, tried and true. hope to have helped! Have a super, and hopefully sucking(ha ha) Sunday

How do you change the dirt bag on a kirby vacuum?

Most Kirbys have two tabs on the inlet hole that line up with two notches on the cardboard face of the bag that lock it into place Grab the cardboard part of the bag and turn it about 30 degrees to the left while pulling out on it and the bag should pop right out.

Suddenly the vacuum won't turn on

Could be a number of reasons, may have a bad cord, If the switch is on the hose, it may have gone bad. Could even be a motor problem. Needs to checked to find the problem.
