Hello there:
here are some helpfull ideas for you

  1. Examine the coils. If your dryer isn't producing any heat
  2. the terminal bracket that secures it may need to be replaced. Also check to see if the thermal fuse is blown, if both volt circuits are on and the thermostats are functional.
  3. Step Check the vent. If a load takes longer than one hour to dry clear the vent duct of any obstructions. Determine if the heating element is partially burned out .
  4. would get a new element anyway ok?
  5. I hope that this is very helpful for you
  6. best regards michael

The heating element have got old and brittle over time and finally gave up the ghost. But it is not always the element. It could be one of the safety Hi-limits have blown. All parts of the dryer will have continuity if its working properly. Test for continuity by using a meter set on Ohms,or use a poor man's meter. You can make your own poor man's meter by using an ordinary flashlight . Break the circuit in the flashlight and add a couple of wires to it so that you can make the light come on in the flashlight, that's right hot wire that flashlight. When the bulb lights up you have a circuit! You now have a poor man's meter. The next step is to check each little gizmo on the dryer that the wires attach to. All the limits attached to the side of the heat element, the door switch (when door is closed) etc.should have continuity (closed circuit)(the light should come on in the poor man's meter) If you come across an thing near the blower housing with 2 wires attached to it, that is a thermal limit, a safety or a control thermostat (So as not to get a false circuit you need to remove one of the wires to each thing you check) Look for lint buildup or blocked vent going out the house. If everything is good and you have paid the electric bill, then the timer could be bad.

Your dryer belt is loose, you may just have to open the dryer and reset the band, but most likely you will need to order a replacement set from whirlpool.

Electric Dryer Does Not Heat
  • If your Whirlpool electric dryer is having trouble heating, you should check all of the thermostats, the thermal cut-off, all fuses and the electric heating element for continuity and proper connection.

Have a whirlpool electric dryer. My wife said that she noticed a burning smell from the back of the dryer while it is running. The clothes are still being dried though. Any suggestions? We have had this...

Usually, lint has found it's way into the burner chamber. This is often evidenced by small brown spots on clothes. To resolve, unplug the machine and open it up and investigate the burner area.

When finished cleaning, remove the outlet hose, turn on the unit and form an opinion about air flow.....Hook hose back up, turn machine on, and go outside the building, and verify very similar air flow volume. Any restriction will slow drying and allow more lint to get drawn into the air inlet.....

Wed9200sq0 heats, tumbles but does not dry at any heat setting

You are correct. Pull the dryer out and disconnect your venting from the back of the dryer. Turn your dryer on and check to make sure your dryer is blowing air out of the dryer duct. If it is then leave your dryer out at least 2 ft from the wall and run a load of clothes through the dryer. If it dries your clothes normally then you have a venting restriction. Check to make sure your venting is clean, not kinked or smashed, make sure your outside vent is opening an doesn.t have something blocking it. Check your lint screen filter by running water through it. If water is not flowing through it, you have a build up of fabric softener on your screen, blocking air flow. Scrub your screen off and test again. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Check your lint trap and the vent. make sure that there are no obstructions in either of them. Then take a look at your timer to since it is not stopping when you tell it too.
