Toshiba Remote CT-877 problem

My Toshiba Remote CT-877 will not turn the TV on & off. For a while it would change channels, but now it won't. Now, all it will do is adjust the volume. I have seen 2 other posts on this problem, but no solutions. I tried the reprogramming, but it didn't help. I work in a school that has cable access for the whole school. The TV works fine and no one else is having problems with remotes in the school. Please advise.

I contacted Toshiba. Take out the batteries. Press every button on the remote. But the batteries back in. The remote will work because you just reset it.

I was having the same problem with my CT-877. I could adjust the volume, but not much else.
I think I accidentally just fixed it (knock on wood). There is a button labeled "TV" to the left of the channel up-down button. I pointed the remote at the tv while the tv was turned on, pressed that button and held it a little bit, then tried the power on/off button and it worked!
I hope that that works for you.
Good luck!

I had the same problem -- tried this suggestion-- and it worked immediately. Thank you.

Thanks for the comment! I was having the same problem again this week and completely forgot that I had posted a solution three years ago. So, thanks to your reminder, which came as kind of a weird coincidence, I was able to go back and read and follow my own advice! It worked again.

The manual of my Toshiba TV says that you can reset it by pressing the "ON" pushbutton for five seconds and then the "TV" button. Do this two or three times and it resets. I think it's a pain in the ... but (no pun intended) what are you going to do? I tried to contact Toshiba but no answers yet to this nuisance. Good Luck

If it's a universal remote, you should find another one.
If original, it's not working

Thanks for stopping by.

What is the model number and manufacturer of the TV you are trying to control with the CT-90157 remote?

Not all IR codes are programmed into all remotes.

I believe ct-877 is the toshiba remote model number, look on the receipt, or the back of the TV for the TV model number, then we can get you the right answer :-)

I cant figure out which button is for the code search on this remote

It should be channel up button. Just keep pressing it, allowing 3 seconds in between presses. Once your television turns off, you have found the code. Then press enter, and try turning your television back on. (Note: not all televisions will power down. Some may only change the channel)

30HF85 TV with CT-877 remote, which doesn't work.

I had the same problem with my remote...over time it slowly stopped working. (sorry for poor terminology) I noticed that one of the battery terminals was corroded and that the metal connecting the battery to the board was completely gone. I simply swapped this out with one from another remote and now its working fine. Seems the only issue is that the battery was not connected.

I hope this helps.
