My new Lexmark Interpret S405 says there is no cartridge in the Magenta slot but really is and it is in there correctly 'cause it can't go any other way. Help!!!

Go into your printer settings and tell the printer to use black ink only and see if it works. You may have got a start up cartridge with the printer and it will not print that many copies and the manuf. now have a chip in the ink replacements that will not allow you to remove and refill the ink so when you take it out the printer won't recognize the cartridge the second time.

HAVENT USED FOR 6 MONTHS. iNK SHOWS FULL. iNSTRUCTION ON SCREEN SAYS"iNSERT PRINTER HEAD" BUT IT IS ALREADY INSERTED. SHOULD i ATTEMPT TO TAKE IT OUT AND REINSERT OR IS INK DRY?

The ink must be dried up since you haven't used it for several months. Yes you can try uninstalling and reinstalling, but before you reinstall it, please clean the print heads and the contact points on the printer as well. Try shaking the cartridge and let it spill some ink drops.
This will help you fix this problem, and don't forget to restart the printer before you reinstall the cartridges.
Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Replace yellow ink but machine says no cartridge

Hello,

When you get the "no cartridge" message it's because one of the sensors does not recognize ink in one of the cartridges.

First open the ink cover and read the LCD screen.
The LCD will tell you which cartridge is having a problem. You should change which ever cartridge is telling you there is a problem.

If the LCD says there is a problem witht he yellow (which you just changed) then follow the below steps.

1. Unplug the power to the printer.
2. Remove all 4 ink cartridges.
3. Close the ink cover with all the inks removed.
4. Plug the power back in.
5. When the LCD says "ink empty" you will reinstall all 4 ink cartridges.

Thank you,

Hello ,

Start by opening your ink cover and read the LCD screen; this will alert you as to which ink cartridge is not being recognized; make sure the cartridge that it is telling you is empty has been changed.

If the unit is still not recognizing the cartridge you have changed, follow the steps below.

  1. Unplug the power cord for the printer unit.
  2. Open the ink cartridge cover and remove all ink cartridges.
  3. Close the ink cartridge cover.
  4. Plug the power cord back in.
  5. Reinstall the ink cartridges.

Thank you,

After installing new cyan cartridge, display reads No Cartridge

look at the ink cartridge and and first see if the ink covers the top of the cartridge. there is a little part of the ink cartridge the best way to explain it, is there is a tab,. that tab goes into a sensor. if the tab has ink on it, then you mostly like have a problem with the sensor itself. but if there is no ink, the printer is correct. i have had several people bring printers with those type of problems, and when they bring the cartridge i look at it, and they are practically empty.

thanks

Printing in color

Since you already tried cleaning tha colored cartridges the next thing that you can possible do is to remove all the cartridges then turn off the printer for 5 minutes then put the cartridges back in and hopefully now the printer will be able to recognize that cartridges are still not epty, but if still the same thing try to use another colored cartridges if possible so we can check if that will also give the saem results...

Hope that helps.......

Printer cartridges not recognised

Sometimes even when an ink cartridge has been refilled to capacity, your printer still registers it as empty. This is because your printer remembers that the cartridge was previously installed and it can only remember it as being empty. Part of this is due to technology put in place by printer manufacturers so that you will always have to buy new cartridges. Part of it is also that print catridges are clogged if not used for sometime after its empty even after refilling this is because the contact was already clogged due to the dryness of the old ink inside it before refilling so in that case you will clean/soak the contacts with solvent before refilling .
again since there is no “official” way to fix this problem, you have to basically clear the printer’s memory to make it recognize that you are installing a full cartridge. If you have tried to install the refilled cartridge and you have done all you can to convince your printer that the cartridge isn’t still empty, then basically you just have to unplug your printer for a minute and then trying reinstalling again. but it should fix this problem and it can potentially fix other annoying things your printer is doing.

On the front of the cartridge there is a sight tube for the ink, the fax shines a light through this tube to detect the ink.
I wraped a piece of paper around the tube to block the light beam on all the cartridges.

Expired ink cartridge

You may be getting this error message due to the printer being able to tell that it is a non-hp cartridge. I don't know how it can tell, but mine says that too. I uninstalled the software and then reinstalled the software. And then I took out the cartridge and put it back in. See if this works for you.
