Probe problem in portable airconditioner-DeLonghi Pinguin PacCT90

We have been told we have a 'probe' problem...Is this 'probe' a part that we can buy at a shop specializing in air conditioner repairs or do we have to take the whole unit into a repair shop ?

We have a Pinguino Pac CT90 portable air consitioner that flashes the letters PF...We have been told it is a probe failure problem and the probe is located under the main board low inside the only silver box on the bottom with the circuit board under it...that is a quote...Instruction went on to say remove cover and you will immediately see a 4 inch blackwire connected to the main board. Unplug the white connector from the board, power on, then carefully plug the white connector back on, turn unit off and back on, you should see all 3 mode lights now on steady, no PF flashing. That is a word for word instruction we received. We don't even know what this 'probe' looks like if we do see it. Help :0

Hi, I have no idea whom you spoke to on this unit, and what probe they are talking about, but if you can give me more information on this portable, hopefully I can get you up and running or lead you in the right direction?
    Sincerely,
    Shastalaker7
PS Let me know what kind of problem you are having?

If you have located the probe or sensor, then it is usually possible to remove it and yes you can get replacement sensors at any refrigeration shop

The probe (if this is actually the problem) and I assume since you are looking at the pc board, looks like a small cylindrical silver or sometimes copper tube about an inch long with two wires coming from one side of it. This connects to the board. The return air sensor is located on the fin plates of the evaporator on a plastic clip.

I have the same problem. It is caused by the thermister thermal probe going bad (open circuit). Delonghi wont sell you the probe which probably costa about $2, they want to sell you a new control panel for $93. You can replace it with another thermister and it works but it will probably be out of calibration.
