So during the installation process it did not let you choose a destination drive to install to and then suddelny switched to the folder w/ question mark? If you removed partitions upon formatting the hard drive, you may need to start disk utility from the tools section. Otherwise take the hard drive out and test it in a hard drive enclosure. If you need to replace it, there are Mac Repair Guidesthat show how to open an Macbook. Watch out for the ribbon cables, those tear easily. Replacement parts are usually available on Ebay. There are third party services that can do it for you, like Mac Repair NYC.

This means that your Pro has crashed. You should take it to apple and have them look at it. What version does it run?

Since you just bought it, you probaly don't have alot of downloads already, Right? regard less, you will need to press and hold The power button down at the same time press and hold the escape button. this wqill do a reset of sorts. it's not a complete factory reset just a reset of sorts. try it.

This exact same thing happened to me, the only way I got my laptop to work again was to reinstall the laptop's original operating system software. Follow the instructions on this website:

Twist the Macbook body while turning it on. If that make the image come back, you have a broken logic board. There are Mac Repair Guides that show how to open a Macbook. Watch out for the ribbon cables, those tear easily. Replacement parts are usually available on Ebay. There are third party services that can do it for you, like Mac Repair NYC.
