Question about Sony VAIO PCV-RS530G PC Desktop

1 Answer

I put a CD in the slot on my computer and nothing happens. That is, the usual prompt asking which program I want to use to read/play the CD does not appear.

By the way, I had found instructions for downloading the drives. I did that and download seemed to happen but then there were yellow exclamation points next to them on My Computer. After doing this, DVD drive showed up on My Computer and drive worked. Thanks so much.

I'm assuming you are running Windows XP? If so, follow this link to Microsoft's website to install and run the Autoplay Repair wizard.

Hi, i have the DVD recorder on this link: My problem is that when I go to watch a DVD on it, it will not work. The DVD...

You said in your post, "The DVD will be under My Computer, but I am unable to play/watch it."

You will be unable to play any DVD that is located under your computer! Besides, with your computer sitting on your DVD, you are very likely to scratch it! Better start putting DVD's in a DVD tray, or put it away in a sleeve or something similar to protect them from getting scratched!

The disk wont load

What happens if you put the disk in and run the greeting card program? Does it ask you to insert the CD?

If you have AutoRun turned off for the CD drive, nothing will happen when you put it in. And most software install disks are not bootable, usually only OS and Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware disks.

Also, if you have two CD/DVD drives, try the other one.

I bought the $150 Office software, inserted it in the drive, and nothing happened! I double clicked, and it never asked me for priceless product key. I was never given prompts or instructions. Aaargh!

Did you purchase this program from a well-known legitimate source? If yes, it should install properly.

Insert the Office CD in your CD/DVD drive. If it doesn't start automatically, then Open Computer and choose the CD/DVD drive. Look for a file similar to Setup.exe and double-click on it. It will start the setup process and ask for the product key, etc.

If this doesn't work, contact the vendor you purchased it from and ask for an exchange as there is a flaw with the CD you received.

Trouble downloading photos to computer

Forget your USB cable Jill. Buy a card reader that reads xD cards (Fuji have one on their website for £4.88+£3.00 P&P, or I picked up a multi card reader from Jessops for £13, which says what it does on the box - ie, can be used for other picture cards beside the xD card) Remove card from camera, fit in the relevant slot on the reader and plug into a USB port on your computer. Your computer will automatically recognise new hardware, and the magic task box appears after a few moments inviting you to "Copy files to your computer", etc., and off you go!
