Question about Acer TravelMate 2201LCi Notebook

DVD moves I can't play any DVD moves on my 2201LCi I have a DVD/CD-RW commbo drive so what do do to get my pc to play moves?

Tat4u has a good idea, checking the necessary CODECS, then downloading and installing AVS Media player would help you view DVD movies as well. It's free to use!

You can play dvd in media player but you have to tell media player what files it should play.you also need to make sure you have the cudecs.you can configure media player to connect to web to download codecs it may not already have for various media formats.

Why won't cds play in the dvd-rw?
Nathaniel, DVD RW have the capability of playing any CD. If you are facing problem then either:

a) Your CD is not right or has too much scratches on it.
b) Your DVD RW Lens has gotten a bit weak. Clean your DVD RW lens and then give it a try.

Dvd driver does not play or burn blank dvds compaq r4000 but it will play dvds & cd its got dvdrw/r rw dvd+r dl n the driver
Try another DVD-RW drive because it sounds like the laser is going bad. Burning requires alot of power from the laser. Playing DVD or playing cd's doesn't require much so thats why it would play those.

We have LG DVD Combo Drive in our Desk Top PC where in Drive can Play CD but can not Play DOV or can not dispay contents on any DVD Inserted. Please Help Thanks Krishna Bikes Pvt Ltd.
In this case the laser for the dvd has died. This can't be fixed, you must replace the entire drive - a new dvd-rw will cost you less than $30.

CD/DVD Drive will not read cd cd/rw or dvd/rw's
Goto the web site of the company that makes the writer and reinstall or update the internal Firmware for that model of writer.

Dvd-cdrom plays music-cd.Not dvd-cd :No Valide Drive/Disc Found
Simply change the ROM to DVD RW drive since this is an old PC and now days nobody uses a dvd rom but a dvd writer. It will be worth it since it can do all the functions and is also more hardy........sodeep

Dvd/cd-rw combo does not record
You may have what is called a combo drive...it can play and burn cds but can only play dvds, not burn them. Look at the face plate on the drive and see what is written on it. If it has the following:
Recordable Drive = CD Burner
DVD = DVD Player
RW & DVD = DVD Burner

If recordable drive and DVD is on the drive but no RW, chances are its a combo drive. Keep us posted.

How can I tell if my comuter has a DVD/CD drive or just a CD drive?
Normally, the front edge of the Drive tray will indicate CD, CD-RW, DVD or DVD-RW.

You can also check in Device Manager inside Windows (Press the Windows Flag Key+Pause Key, Hardware Tab, Device Manager button) Click the + next to DVD/CD-ROM Drives, and see what model drive is listed. If DVD isn't part of the drive model, it is a CD drive only.

LG LS50 DVD/CD-RW DRIVE won't recognize blank dvd-r
Yes does not read DVD-R because if your LS50 Labeled like this (DVD/CD-RW) means that can read only all DVD Disc and cannot write on DVD blank only CD blank.


You can burn only on the blank CD-RW or any blank CD.

hi

please try to restart your computer while the dvd is still in the drive. this usually happens if your drive may have some accumulated dust for it will select only a few dvd to read.
