You may find a reset button on the underside of the roller brush base.

Dyson DC27- machine stays on with red button but beater brush won't stay on while vacumming low carpet.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

We have the Absolute Animal model. The brush does not rotate although there is suction via the wand. Is there a reset button somewhere. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I have a vax bagless upright mach 5 no power at all

usually...burt rubber smells indicate burning rubber.... the belt will get hot and smell like this if the brush rollers are hard to turn due to hair or string getting caught in the roller and especially at the ends of the roller where the axle of the roller meets the vacuume cleaner .... ya gotta take the whole brush off and clean it... if you use it on damp floors ( like carpet where snow was tracked in) the metal parts can rust and cause it to bind. if the vac no longer turns on at all.... you probably blew an internal fuze (if it has one) or burnt out the wiring..... fuzes are replaceable but wires require a vacuume cleaner repair person.

I can't find the reset button which will start the brushes rotating after shoelace caught in roller.

The reset button is on the right handle, right beside the main on/off switch. The small one.

Hope that's what you need.

The roller is not turning after i caught up a frayed carpet string.

This could be because of 2 things on this model.

1) the model MAY have a white reset button on the side of the unit that the hose does not go into. Sometimes to prevent a toothed belt from damaging the motor.

2) the belt may need to be changed on the unit usually noticed with a burning rubber smell when you caught something. this just requires a belt change.

Carpet roller will not turn. Vacuum still sucks up dirt

You may need to replace the belt that drives the roller head. They wear out and break, or maybe it has just come loose. Also check for string and thread wound around the roller wheel axles, that is a common "culprit"

Vacuum stopped as it got plugged up with fuzzy carpet stuff..cleaned it out but now it won't start.

This is due to the thermostat. If the cleaner can't breathe the motor will shut off if it gets hot. If you have new carpet, this will be a problem for a little while, until your carpet stops "shedding" unclog and wait. after cooling the unit will once again function. If it is your power nozzle, then unplug roller and push the reset button while turned on, and you should have no more trouble! Hope this helps!

My dyson vacumn is hard to push on carpeting. How do i fix it?

This happens when the bristles in the brush roll get worn down too short. Put in a new brush roll and the machine will pull itself over the carpet, so you hardly have to push at all.

Carpet function rollers don't turn

Most likely a broken belt. If the brush roll is turning freely, then check the belt.
