Question about Computers & Internet
The driver has got corrupted due to some reason, whether virus or otherwise and a reinstall of the device should sort it out. Reboot the laptop and go to Start->Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager->DVD/CD ROM Drives. Here you will find your drive listed. Select it and remove it. Then reboot the laptop. Go to same place again and from the Menu select Actions->Scan for New HW. when your laptop finds a DVD drive it will detect the drive and load its drivers. Then it should not pose any problems.
