My old Kenmore sewing machine is turning so hard the motor can't turn it. I can turn it by hand and when I release it the belts spin freely. All apart and nothings wrong that I can see

Your old sewing machine is in serious need of lubrication. I highly recommend you taking it into a Sew & Vac store and have them lubricate it internally for you. I don't recommend doing this yourself because you have to do some disassembly and more often than not you will have to take it in for service. Trust me on this one.

My sewing expert (spouse) says you may have thread caught in the bobbin area. Remove all the thread from the top, they look inside, you may find the problem.
Be blessed.

Serious difficulties threading the bobbin on a Janome 4100QDC - I have sewn a lot, so I cannot understand this being a problem for me - I blame the machine! I didn't have problems with my Bernina, which I...

Try changing the needle

Try rethreading the machine top and bobbin

Make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way In the bobbin case

It's possible that the machine needs to be checked for a timing problem

Sewing machine feed dogs too low

Sounds like you somehow lowered them. Look for a slide switch or a button near the sewing area of the machine.

If your machine doesn't have a "drop the dogs" feature, you'll need to have the machine professionally adjusted (trust me, the minute measurements require some serious tools and uber awesome eyesight to do. So just pay to have it "cleaned, Adjusted and timed)

I need a diagram to re-assemble the shuttle race cover for a vintage Kenmore sewing machine, 148.273

Hi, if you go to sears parts direct and put your model #in you will get a diagram of the parts and how they go together. Looks like you have a real classic there. If, you cannot figure it out from the diagrams, try and find a reliable repairman, someone who has been in business for a few years. Good luck, Happy New Year

maybe a service call is in order. I have a 30 year old huskavarna can't spell it, but the repair people said they don't make the machines out of metal anymore so if you have one you liked it is worth the 200.00 of it needs a new part, and they clean them really well as well, good luck hope it works K

Hi,

Not sure which machine you are referencing but if is the 16231...it is highly recommended. There is literally no issues with this machine reported in the past 2 years it has been out.
CAN NOT GO WRONG! More than worth the $$ You will be please with the reliability of a mechanical machine with the benefit of a few "can't live with out" electronic features, up/down needle button. start/stop button, speed control lever! It pretty great. You can also go to sear.com and read soem other reviews form customers. It comes pretty highly rated.

The solution is to return the Brother and go to Sears and get a Kenmore. Most of them are made by Janome. Janome is a very good brand for both reliability and good sewing results. Flawless stitches, no jams.

We have a top of the line Kenmore and a cheapie Kenmore and both are excellent machines. Our daughter has a high end Kenmore that we got for her and she loves it.
