Hange light on gas dryer

Hello Robert;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

The number that you have provided is your owners manual number. This is a generic manual which applies to several models.

Open the door on your dryer and you will see a label with the model number.

What are you trying to do? Replace the light? The light assembly?

Ignitor is lighting, going out after a few seconds, dries sometimes but mostly not drying

Hello Amy,
With the igniter coming on and then going off, yet their is no heat to the dryer the problem is going to be bad coils for the gas valve that need to be replaced.

This is a tip i wrote about the coils it includes the part number and instructions of how to replace them.

T701 dryer is plugged in but no power light and dryer won't star- it just stopped working

Hello, welcome to Fixya. I think you`ve come to the right my humble opinion.

First things first, have you checked the 15amp fuses which are located at the back of your Asko dryer ? **Turn off your breaker at the home service panel, it should be a 30amp switch**

That is where I`d start. They are at the back as I said located next to where the power cord exit`s the unit. Look for 2 small round slotted caps ( these are the fuse holders/hubs ) either black or gray in color.

With a flat screwdriver fitted in the slot of the fuse hub, turn it a half turn counter clockwise an it should drop out...though it may need to be pulled out if it`s stuck in the holder part.

Replace with a 15amp "slow blow" ( the only difference is the slow blow are filled with sand and aren`t transparent glass tubes but rather gray or white in color ) if the fuse is blown. You can find these fuses at most brick & mortar appliance part stores or on-line parts vendors such as,, etc. Part number is #8058140 and you should replace both. The number may substitue to an in-store number, it really depends on the vendor, just provide your model number and you should have no trouble.

Hope that is helpful. If so please rate the solution accordingly, if not let me know what you find or if you require further assitance.

Thank`s for visiting Fixya today and good luck.

Whirlpool gas dryer heats then stops

you will want to do two things
first check you vent exhaust even a small clogg here can be detrimental
then if thats clear
repalcce the coils on the top of the gas valve
they are probaly weakening
they are called the boost and assit
or hold and assit
they sit ontop of the gas valve

Maytag gas dryer will do the initial burn but will not start to flame again with the starter coil glowing

your gas coils are bad, more than likely just one
but it is beter to replace them as a pair just to be safe
they sit on top of the regulator
sometimes called hold and assist
or boost and assit

I have a JC Penney dryer that is very slow drying cloths. The Igniter and Gas Valve are both working. When I turn the dryer on I can see the burner light but it only stays on for about 15 seconds before it...

HI, First thing you want to check is your venting to the outside. Make sure it is clean all the way out and that it is not pinch/kinked. Please let me know if I can assit you further.
