Hi I have a supermicro x8sti Server Board inside

Basically you have two choices for installation of video card:
1. To purchase small form factor PCIe card suitable for installation on 1U server chasis or
2. Purchase PCI express riser card and to install most full-sized PCI Express cards (Check this link for PCI Riser )

I have a Supermicro P8SCT motherboard when I power it on I get no video

Hello here is the homepage:

http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/p4/e7221/p8sct.cfm

When you have a blown cap, on the mainboard i suggest to change them all.

But the price for this, will exeed the price for a new and better mainboard.
A new mainboard cost about 100 dollars, and the cpu aswell.

I suggest you to buy a well known brand like asus or intel.

I`m using asus, and i newer have any problems with that.

Intel is a bit more expensive, than a amd based mainboard.

Good luck

Resolve Error Code: C7 on SuperMicro Server

First check the OS compatibility for you motherboard here:
http://www.supermicro.com/support/faqs/os.cfm

Then, if compatible, check the IDE/SATA setting. Change the hard drive controller settings from IDE to AHCI or vice versa to see if the OS kernel panics on boot. If that does not work, please reply with your OS version and motherboard model.

Hi! I get Supermicro U2 server with X5DPA-GG MBO. Cpu and memor modules are ok, but when I turn on server I get long error beep. I took manual and saw that's overheat problem (or should be). But server...

This sounds like a video controller issue. Try booting with a different monitor. Ensure the cables are connected to the motherboard correctly (fans/power/led indicators). Try booting off of a single stick of RAM. Otherwise you may need to check the warranty status and RMA the motherboard to have it repaired/replaced.

1 beep: circuits reset - ready to power up
5 short, 1 long: memory issue
8 beeps: video adapter issue

Blue screen of death, means you have a bad driver or a system file.
I think the hard drive, is failing.
This is probably why, you can`t start in failsafe mode either.
But do check the ram modules, for fault aswell.

Good luck

Supermicro machines

Your server uses a Super P8SCi Motherboard, and according to the manual for your server on page 4-2, you can enter the bios of the computer by rapidly pressing the DELETE key when you first power on the server. This will take youto the bios setup screen. At the top, you'll see an option called boot. Use the arrows keys to navigate over to it, and change your first boot device to the CD-ROM Drive. Then SAVE AND EXIT, and it will now boot from any cd before looking to boot from the hard drive.

Silly question perhaps...

Ooh! That motherboard uses RIMMs, not regular DDR memory. And you'll need a matched pair to get it to fire up and permit access to the BIOS. Checking eBay I see you can get a pair of 256 MB modules for less than $10, so your curiosity won't cost you too much.
