Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

Can't turn on my controller without turning on the 360.

I have an windows ir receiver for the xbox 360 controller and recently bought an xbox 360. Now the problem I run into is that I can't turn on my controller to connect to windows without my 360 turning on.

I'm hoping there is a better way to solve this than unplugging my 360 every time i want to play a game on my computer.

Thanks

Its the entire microsoft computer controller bundle that includes the IR receiver and controler, Microsoft pn JR9-00001.

Either way I found a work around. When you plug the controller into a play and charge cable[B4Y-00027](hooked to a computer USB, not the xbox360) the controller will turn on without activating the xbox360. It will then sync with the comptuer without turning on the 360.

Let me know if there is a different way to accomplish this.

    Thanks

Thanks for the info. That was what I was thinking as well, until i stumbled upon the controller turning on when you plug in the "charge and play" connector mentioned in the comments under the initial post.

    Thanks

    Another Update:
Found out something interesting. Connecting a controller to the play and charge kit connected to my computer it would no longer communicate with my 360 and vice versa.

So that is how it works, basically you have to pair the controller to the device in order for it to work. Pretty cool and easy if you ask me, just wanted to post up the info for anyone else looking.

Hello,

unfortunately this wont be possible.
The thing is both your computer and the xbox360 are on the exact same frequency, meaning that if both devices are in radius they will both go on.

If the xbox360 is nearby then I would recommend to unplug the power cable while you are using the controller for the PC.

This is only a workaround but I hope it helped.

I have the Wireless Racing Wheel with Force Feedback. We usually play Forza Motorsport 2 and everything worked fine. We recently bought Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (2010) and the pedals don't work. ...

Hello, NFS Hot pursuit 2010 on the Xbox 360 officially supports the Microsoft wheel but any Xbox 360 wheel will most likely work fine....their words. I haven't played the console version but if you say the wheel works I suggest you try remapping the pedal controls under gameplay settings if this is possible

I hope this helps, thanks for using FixYa.

I can't get my remotes to sync with the console.

Connecting a controller to the Xbox 360 is one of those things that should be simple but always ends up confusing and difficult.

Wired is simple; just plug in the controller into a USB slot on the console. It should connect automatically.

For a wireless controller you do the following:
1. Turn on the Xbox 360.
2. Press center Xbox button on 360 controller.
3. Press the small "sync" button on the console.
4. Press the small "sync" button on the controller quickly after step 3.
Of course I never remember the order, so randomly mashing the Xbox button and sync buttons eventually works too. Here's a link to how to sync, but with pictures!

If you're using the Xbox 360 Universal Media remote, I believe it uses an IR (infrared) connection so there is no syncing involved. To use it you just need to point it at the Xbox 360 console (specifically, it's IR receiver). Just make sure the batteries in the remote aren't dead and that the remote is in 360 mode (as opposed to TV mode; just press the "TV" button to toggle modes).

Is xbox 360 controller compatible with laptops woth vista? Also can I play FIFA with it?

The Xbox 360 controllers are compatible with Windows Vista, you need to connect it either using the cable or you would need to purchase a "Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows"

Once you have connected the controller it should work with FIFA

Xbox controllerwirless wontconnect to pc

To connect the controller to a computer that is running Windows XP SP2 or a later version of Windows, follow these steps:
  1. Press and hold the Xbox Guide button until the controller turns on. The Xbox Guide button is the round button with the green "X" near the center of the controller.
  2. Make sure that the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows is plugged in to your computer.
  3. On the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows, press and release the small round Connect button.
  4. On the controller, press and release the Connect button. The Connect button is the small button on the front edge of the controller, between the left bumper button and the charging port.
  5. The Ring of Light on the controller spins and flashes one time, and the light on the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows flashes. When the controller is connected, the Ring of Light on the controller remains lit and indicates the position in which the controller is connected.
Note If you want help connecting an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller to your personal computer, you can contact Xbox Customer Support. For more information about how to contact Xbox Customer Support, please visit the Xbox Support (http://www.xbox.com/support/) Web site.

Xbox 360 Controller Won't Connect To My 360....

You have to connect the controller like this: Somewhere on the XBox 360 controller there is a button that looks like this, o))) or something like that. Push that button and look at the XBox 360 round lights, they start to flash, that means you have to push the same button on the console. The o))) button should be infront of the console.

Hello my name is Tim Ehrhart, If the reciever is not lighting up then it is dead, you can try to take it to walmart and exchange it for a working one, they are usualy good at swapping out and if they give you a hard time buy a new one and return it with the old reciever instead of the new one. I hope this helps you.

Help Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver For Windows, help help

I bought this system recently, and it had the same problem from the beginning.

I opened it, and found that the problem was the F1 Fuse that is cutting the current. You have to open it and bypass (soldering) the two legs of the F1 Fuse.

This is how to open it: http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/6896/openingoi6.jpg
and this is the circuit: http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/231/receivereb4.jpg

Hope this will help ;P

XBOX 360 Wireless Controller PC Connection Problem

WARNING: try at your own risk!

I kind of fixed it. The problem appears to be with the USB controller - specifically, my mouse (a Razer Copperhead) and the XBOX 360 wireless receiver. A lot of work went into the solution, but I essentially ended up uninstalling and unplugging all of my USB devices (you can uninstall them using device manager in System Properties>>Hardware within Control Panel. Look for Universal Serial Bus and uninstall everything in that category). Reboot. Then, I first plugged in the device in question (my 360 receiver). Afterwards, I one by one plugged in each item until I found the one conflicting with the receiver (my mouse). After that, I uninstalled all devices again and next uninstalled the drivers for the conflicting device (my mouse in this case) and rebooted again. After this, I tried several times to uninstall and reinstall the mouse and various USB devices until finally it worked (sort of).

I call this a partial solution because now I appear to have the opposite problem. My mouse seems to be conflicting with another device (probably the 360 receiver). My mouse refresh rate is very choppy. The good news (for me) is that I can uninstall the USB controller for the mouse, reboot, and both the 360 controller and the mouse will work fine... that is until shut down. Then I have to uninstall the mouse controller and reboot again. Needless to say, I keep my computer on more than usual now.

Xbox 360 turns on, but nothing shows on the screen

If the person that you bought it from on E-Bay had an HD Television. Then the Xbox console is set into HD from the Display options. If your TV is not HD, then It will not display. It can also be the other way around, if His TV is standard and yours is HD. Also try looking at the RCA's(The Part that plugs into the 360) And you will see a slider. Switch the slider, then turn it on. Tell me if that works, if Not, tell me and I will tell you what to press on your 360 controller to set the other menu. Hope this helps.
